Bill Clinton says it and its fine. Donald Trump says it and its racist

This was, and remains, the default democratic position - to this day. That's one of the funnier things about the hoopla Republicans make out of the immigration issue - in broad strokes, there is a consensus already, and the idea that democrats want to open borders is an outright fabrication.

But notice how he didn't say they were rapists and murderers. In fact, no dehumanizing or insulting language whatsoever.

He's wrong about the burden on the taxpayers, and their effect on the labor marketplace is not especially clear cut - but in a larger, rule of laws sense, I still agree with Bill.
No talk of walls or separating children makes almost the same message different.

If you see any kind of correlation between the vitriol and falsehoods spewed out by trump and the above speech given by Bill Clinton then all I can say to you is:

Bill wanted to ditch the 14th Amendment? I did not know that!
@Northwest and what does that have to do with what I posted?
This must be eating at the libs - oh wait a second maybe the sound part was added -- there you go , feel better libs - its all fake.
I watched. Though I wasn't a supporter of him as President, I am fascinated by this speech. But obviously, something (IMO) stopped short, failed or were they just words? If what he said was sincere, the immigration problem would not have risen to the level it has currently. Something definitely went awry.@MarmeeMarch
@soar2newhighs I coulnt believe it was coming out of his mouth

Outstanding speech, but what in reality happened after that?

@soar2newhighs What always happens, under republican, or democratic administration. They tried. They're still trying. It's not a matter of snapping your fingers.

The flow of illegal immigrants depends more on various economic circumstances than anything else, ours and theirs. It's no coincidence that the population stabilized in '09, after two decades of growth. Like the war on drugs, you'll never be able to interdict it out of existence completely, unless you want to live in some panopticon police state hellhole. But you can't stop trying either.
Well said.@QuixoticSoul
