@SumKindaMunster Youtube shooter wasn’t a Muslim. Don’t think she was an Iranian nationalist either.
And people lost their shit over San Bernardino, that’s the sort of stuff OP is talking about. Christie called it a new world war. There was a massive outpouring of collective anger and over the top rhetoric - of the sort that we didn’t see with this shooting, for example, or the mass shooting at an abortion clinic the week before the events at San Bernardino.
@QuixoticSoul She was from Iran, I never said she was muslim. However she was perceived that way.
My overall point here, and let me be clear, is that people only care when a shooting confirms their already existing biases. The original poster here is always quick to post news that supports his biases, I feel he should be called out for his hypocrisy.
@SumKindaMunster An Iranian nationalist is not the same as an Iranian national. And you might not have said it that she was a Muslim, but you brought her out in response to a post that is titled “How do you think Republicans would have reacted if the Pittsburg Shooter had turned out to be muslim?” so there is more than a passing implication there.
And there is no hypocrisy in the OP - Republicans lose their shit over Islamic terrorism, but their reaction to domestic right wing terrorism is rather muted. Left wing terrorism barely exists in US these days, so Democrats have less of a problem with this.
And you might not have said it that she was a Muslim, but you brought her out in response to a post
Yes I did, but I didn't say she was Muslim. I brought her up because this should have been a well examined case considering her background, her mental issues, and particularly her gender, yet this case barely made a ripple in the public discourse.
Yet when it is a white male, which fits the narrative there is a national outcry and you have people like this poster taking the story and using it to justify and promote his worldview.
And there is no hypocrisy in the OP
Disagree. See my comment above.
I agree that Republicans response to shootings leaves a lot to be desired, however same goes for Democrats.
Left wing terrorism barely exists in US these days,
Yeah right, I would say it gets under reported or classified as "right wing" even if the shooters motives are complicated or unclear. There is plenty of left wing terrorism going on these days, however, you seem to be unaware.
@SumKindaMunster It didn’t make a ripple because the woman was obviously crazy, and her craziness had zero political component. She was mad at YouTube policies. That’s pretty out there, but just not enough meat on the story to keep it going.
Left wing terrorism used to be a more common thing, but since the 80s, it’s barely ticking over.
When it does happen, people do have a field day with it - which is why people mention the Bernie shooter fifty times a day.
“Complicated” motives are usually left unresolved - like they are for the incel terrorists. Who are, let’s face it, pretty solidly right if you ever take a peek in their spaces - but their ideology is distinct enough where people prefer to separate them. Can’t say I’ve seen a single political shooting by a left winger that’s attributed to the right wing.
It didn’t make a ripple because the woman was obviously crazy, and her craziness had zero political component
That doesn't refute my point. She was quite unique, I don't recall the last time we had a woman shooter, but again this is not the narrative of a crazed white male with an assault weapon so it was dropped.
I don't accept data from the ADL, or the Southern Law Poverty Center as unbiased sources regarding political violence.
As previously stated political violence on the left is overlooked, underreported or misclassified and these organizations are a big part of why that happens.
