[quote]You can criticise Obama's actions too. But it is a gigantic leap from saying he messed up and was tactically wrong to say he deliberately supported terrorists.

I can't see the post you're responding, the person must block me.

People can criticize Obama's actions, until kingdom come, over the Syria war, but there was only one hand he could play, and he did. The GCC countries, wanted to overthrow a regime that was allied with Iran, and replace it with an Islamist regime. While he could not stop them, he could not be part of it either.

ISIS's origins are a little more complicated. When we invaded Iraq, we disbanded the Baath Party, effectively dismantling the middle managed that kept law & order in Iraq. They were also the Sunni backbone. They immediately started militarizing, under various Islamic movements, that coalesced into ISIS.

In the meanwhile, the new Iraqi constitution, did away with the secular system, and replaced with religious enclaves, further strengthening ISIS. Syria's only hope, was the secular opposition, but the GCC countries, and Turkey (prior to the break with Saudi), did not want that to happen. There was nothing Obama could do to prevent, short of an Iraq war size invasion of Syria, and we know how well the Iraq invasion turned out.
