Serious question for anyone who is a big fan of Brett Kavanaugh, and I mean this for real, this isn't supposed to be a "gotcha".

What do you think of Kavanaugh's repeated expression that he believes the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to be unconstitutional, illegal, and in need of dismantling?

Well, I don't know anything about this particular agency and what Article of the Constitution it draws its authority from, but in general, our Federal government routinely operates far outside the authority granted to it by the Constitution.

If We the People want a Federal government this large, then we should do it the right way and amend the Constitution. If We don't, then our Supreme Court should do its job and reel in the excess. It's called the Rule of Law.

@sarabee1995 Psssh, rule of law. Don't you know that none of our elected officials care about that shit these days? Presidents pardoning themselves, wiping their ass with the Constitution, breaking the laws they set themselves (that one's called the Andrew Cuomo special maneuver). Rule of law has been killed thoroughly.

@BlueMetalChick Has any president ever pardoned himself?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@sarabee1995 Thankfully not yet. I don't honestly think Trump believes he can or is gonna try. He's just doing it as a distraction.

@BlueMetalChick Doing what as a distraction?

@sarabee1995 Pretending he's gonna pardon himself. It's what my sister calls the dead cat trick. If you don't want to get caught for doing something bad, and you can't hide it or talk your way out of it, say something ridiculous and stupid, so much so that it'll make everyone hate you for it, but at least they won't see the thing you did that you want to cover up.

@BlueMetalChick Hmm. I'm not sure I've heard him say that? But okay.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@sarabee1995 It was in a tweet he posted. He said he has the "absolute right to pardon himself."

@BlueMetalChick Wow. That would be the end of the presidency as we know it. 🤦‍♀️
