On topic: Of course Republicans want to eliminate barriers for financial-institution-people to be able to operate effectively. Because think of all of the money financial-institution-people could make if they didn't have to worry that their latest scheme to get people to pay them money for crap they didn't want or need was needlessly being watched. That money they could have earned could go towards the reelection of key actual-people that are more financial-institution-people-minded, which in turn secures the future monies while dumping more people into the mass grave of financial ruin.

Typical "I've got mine, I don't care if you get yours" mentality.
