For the next idiot to claim Nazis were Socialists

"Hurr durr Nazis had socialist in the name so they were socialists":
The Economist magazine introduced the term "privatization" (alternatively "privatisation" or "reprivatization" after the German "Reprivatisierung") during the 1930s when it covered Nazi Germany's economic policy.

Btw - buffalo wings are made of buffaloes and sea lions are really feline lions. Nor are sea horses actually horses.

Hitler wanted the german economy to be run by a few large companies he could control as opposed to many small companies he could not. In that sense he was a socialist. USSR also has socialism in the name. See the pattern?

@irishmolly72 Not what socialism is. Socialism means worker control and ownership of the means of production. Socialists are opposed to privatization in any way. Hitler's economics were Third Position - i.e a mix of capitalism and state ownership.

Socialism doesn't require a state - Libertarian Socialism/Anarchism advocates worker cooperatives and a stateless society.

@basilfawlty89 National Socialism. That's what Ernst Rohm and all those homosexual brownshirts brought about. Deal with it. It never works.

@irishmolly72 The government-corporate partnership is one of the founding tenets of Fascism, along with the suppression of workers rights

@irishmolly72 You are absolutely right.
See TRUMP & his pals!

@ChipmunkErnie I refuse to debate a guy named "ChipmunkErnie". 😄

@irishmolly72 That's just an example of species bigotry!!!

@basilfawlty89 Mao and Stalin each killled far far more than Hitler ever did, but I guess those people just weren't as important as the ones Hitler killed? Socialism is the most vicious, evil thing ever invented by mankind, once it really gets going. In China and the USSR the workers putatively owned and controlled the means of production. A real workers paradise, huh?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@irishmolly72 No, Gregor Strasser wanted to have some socialism, but he left the party long before, not to mention was killed by Hitler.
@basilfawlty89 Yeah they killed Gregor Strasser. Not an example of Socialism failing. Murdered by fascist. The night of long knives.
@basilfawlty89 Even Strasser essentially advocated basically a german version. Jim Crow south. Not exactly leftwing.
irishmolly72 · 56-60, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Strasser was, exactly, unambiguosly, and incontrovertibly, left wing. He was anti-capitalist and anti-western. A big part of the problem was that Strasser and Rohm and Rohm's butt-buddies controlled about 3 million men and were a threat to the regular army. They needed to go. The army pressued Hitler into it, although there were other factors involved. Strasser was becoming more like a Boshevik partly because of the great depression. Socialism starts out with what appears to be great promise but then it can get ugly really fast. Witness Venezuela.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@irishmolly72 Venezuela is predominantly privately owned. Not socialism. Socialism is worker ownership of the means of production.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@irishmolly72 Stressed was also socially extreme right. He was for traditionalism, hierarchy and so on.
@basilfawlty89 "Hurr durr move to venezeula" is always what conservatives say when you say you're a socialist. It's humorous how retarded that response is.

Venezeula isn't a shining example of Socialism and nor is Norway but quiet frankly if I were to leave the united states I'd pick norway.

I support the nordic model in the united states in spite of being basically a libertarian socialist. Don't get me wrong I'm smart enough to know the difference between the social democrats and the Anarchist but you'll have to forgive me I'm american and I like both because American has been ruled for it's entire history by from what from my perspective is the far right, and in that I am including the Democrats as Right wing.

There is no major left wing political party in the united states, we have Two not just right but FRINGE right wing political parties with ONE slightly less fringe and slightly more sane and one that's batshit insane and more fringe but still fringe.

There's no mainstream left. None.
@irishmolly72 so Monopoly is a communist idea?
@BetweenKittensandRiots Venezuela is arguably the more successful model until a combination of a Saudi game of chicken crashed oil prices and New York oligarchs crashed the currency.
