There's Nothing Sacred About the Number 'Nine'

Brett Kavanaugh may be confirmed this week and by Monday sit on the U.S. Supreme Court.

If that happens and when the next Congress takes office in January, there will be an immediate investigation by the U.S. House into the FBI's so-called investigation this week into Kavanaugh as Democrats will re-capture the gavel and chair all the House committees and therefore have subpoena power.

It's clear the White House limited the scope of the investigation and while the FBI interview notes may be confidential, any directives the FBI was given by the White House are not.

Democrats might not be able to work up to 67 votes in the Senate for impeachment in the next 6 years.

And if not, President Joe Biden should pack the court. Only 50%+1 in each chamber of Congress would be needed to pass legislation expanding the Supreme Court to 11.

There's nothing sacred about the number "nine."

There is no maybe about it Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed but he won't be sitting on Monday. The FBI supplemental investigation is complete, the cloture vote will be today or Friday then next week it will go to the floor for a vote.

Another investigation, only if there is a democratic house and it won't go anywhere, everyone is pinned down on I don't remember so they won't be able to prove anyone is lying except maybe Ford, her ex boyfriend has already contradicted her sworn testimony.

But a democratic congress is not a sure thing, the Kavanaugh ambush attack orchestrated for the 11th hour has galvanized republican voters and polls show a greater turnout for republicans this mid term. So the liberal whining and lying may have worked against them.

No way Democrats are going to get a 2/3 super majority for an impeachment vote.

There's nothing sacred about the number 9 but should tables turn it is not likely that will change. The Circuit Judges Act returned the number of justices to nine just after the civil war, it is not likely to change, they got away from fighting over the number for a reason.

You're assuming such hearings will mostly focus on Ford.

It won't.

It WILL look into his potential perjury before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, there won't be galvanized republican voters. Such might be the cases if his nomination goes down.

I'm not saying Dems will have a 2/3's vote for impeachment. They DON'T NEED a 2/3's vote for impeachment. 50%+1 in the HOUSE is needed.

A 2/3's vote in the SENATE is needed for conviction. Dems are unlikely to control the Senate in January. I'm looking four to six years from now.

Say during Biden's first mid-terms or on the coattails of his re-election.

@beckyromero Impeachment without a senate conviction is meaningless, just ask Bill Clinton.

You can't just say someone committed perjury, it has a be relevant fact and you have to actually prove it. There is nothing there

Which is why I am patient to get to 67 over a 4-6 year period.

If a real estate developer / TV personality can become president, nothing in politics is a "pipe dream."
