Ideology

I would like to thank you in advance for reading this, and hopefully, take your time to answer it. Nevertheless, do you think that Ideology is still a valuable thing to debate?
Do you think that it is not something that is valid to discuss or that is not worth discussing? Do you think there is an ideology superior to others? Do you think liberalism, capitalism, socialism or nationalism all have good things, or one or some of them being better? Do you believe that your country is a democracy or do you find it discussable?

Thanks for taking the time to read it. I wish you the best of luck and a good day/evening.
Regards.
Religion is just supernatural politics. That's why so many people are killed behind both religion and politics. A long time ago someone decided to have it chiseled in stone that "The strong should protect and care for the weak." That was a pretty good idea. "Don't take things that don't belong to you." Another good one. Don't mess with your brothers squeeze.
Share stuff.
Don't 'unbalance the scale.
Work hard.
Don't shit where you eat.

All really good ideas if you ask me, but it comes down to personal preference and general consensus and all that nifty stuff. I love my country because it was an amazing experiment that kind of built on the magna carta . Most of the isms have something to bring to the table, but I think 'individualism and collectivism' are the main intangibles that make the biggest splash in the western world today.
In order to have an optimum quality of life in an autonomous society, there has to be a balance between individualism and collectivism that is acceptable to the status quo. Too much or too little of either is a recipe for civil unrest and ultimate failure.

Thank you for your answer, and for sharing your opinion on both religion topics and ideologies. It is for arguable that balance is a good thing.

It all depends on context. All these things are just approaches, vantage points, references, tools for analysis. IMHO anyone who claims to he an idealogue and is proud of that... is as dangerous as a doctor who prescribes anti-biotics for *everything*.

Discussing about ideologies is still valid, but should be kept inside certain limits.

Ideologies have invaded areas that should be kept away from ideological debate, like science or medicine. In this fields the only acceptable debate should be about facts

Ideological debate is too focused on concepts that are either outdated (the traditional left/right) dividion), or ambiguous (socialism, fascism), or do not mean the same in different zones and times (liberalism), or are simply used as slurs. Thus debate is flawed unless an agreement on the meaning of those concepts is reached, and that seems unlikely to happen.

I believe we as a society have become far to confrontational when it comes to beliefs or ideology. And for this reason should be limited unless asked. Once asked and agreed upon that opens up the door for some discussion. Making radome claims and accusations concerning others ideologies is inappropriate. It just causes to much conflict.

@AllAboutTheFacts Sorry but I have to respectfully decline. I am not a masochist.

I think ideology as a thing, is inescapable, whether someone owns up to it or not. As for any being superior, there are clearly at least a few worthwhile elements in most ideologies, it's really a matter of what mix you deem superior, I think.

I do think it's worthwhile to actually debate and discuss the merits and flaws of various ideologies.

But not with everyone, and not in every context.

I don't value one ideology over another from your list or hold any other particular ideology.

I think democracy is debatable.
