A question for liberals...

Would you be close friends with a trump supporter?
Top | New | Old
No. And they’d be unlikely to seek my friendship. I’m everything they generally hate: nonwhite, educated, liberal, pro-choice and pro-marriage equality, feminist and non-religious.

@IronHamster The trump-baby's repeated actions and comments over many, many years, as in Bijoux's long list, have proven what a sham and hypocritical publicity stunt he knew he was pulling, whenever he dumped a pile of dollars on charities to buy an award here and an honor there.
MissPriscillaPrim · 70-79, T
@IronHamster Accuse your opponents of the exact sort of truth-raping you're committing. Stalinism 101.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@IronHamster He paid good money for that photo-op. So much for your picture.

You should ask the Central Park 5 about Trump's racism.
Jacob94 · 22-25, M
I wouldn’t call myself a liberal but my answer to the question is no. I can barely tolerate relatives who support him.
NoFuxGiven · 22-25, F
No. In a fundamental way, nothing has changed since 11/9/16. 36% of the people I've met have always had severely flawed judgment and I wanted nothing to do with them and didn't care how they felt about me, either.

No. Having conservative values is one thing, and I can still respect those who do even if I don’t share their worldview, but supporting Trump or his Republican Party of enablers is nothing short of a personal failure of character and intellect.
Xuan12 · 36-40, M
@SW-User Values would have disqualified Trump if they were a factor.
I just ended a strained friendship. He's a Trump supporter who sees no connection between events in Pittsburgh and Trump
daisymay · 51-55, T
@IronHamster How many new steel processing plants have been opened so far?
@daisymay you must think you're funny. Steel processing plants? Or furnaces to kill Jews?
daisymay · 51-55, T
@penguinswon How many new automobile manufacturing facilities are opening in Detroit? How many air conditioning manufacturing facilities are opening in the country? Isn't Carrier one of the Orange Moron's feel-good stories of American greatness?
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
Probably not. I think people who support Trump just don't see eye to eye with me on too many issues. You have to be wilfully ignorant to fully support him. With that being said I can be close friends with a logical conservative.

lorne13 · 61-69, M
I only know 1 supporter and he's got some serious mental health problems so it's not his fault, he's a pretty good friend though
So...

I rarely answer political questions. With good reason. I am not a Trump supporter. I am sisters with someone who is, so, yes, even though I'm not liberal, I would be friends with a Trump supporter. Some liberal friends I know are also able to wave the white flag in the name of friendship.

All I know is, Bijoux, someone I respected greatly, blocked me after I wrote something I believed that was different than what she believed. She had been angry that someone deleted her response to the question we were both responding to, then decided I was so "offensive" she had to block me. That was a bit ironic and not very even-handed, in my opinion. I'm still hoping she will see that things are not always so black and white. Especially when I was answering a question she posed to me.
texasdaddydom · 56-60, M
still love my sister and yes I have other friends that support Trump.
beckyromero · 36-40, FVIP
Most of my friends aren't. A few are.

My closest friends are not.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
I'm not sure why anyone would have an issue with Trump or any of his supporters.

Most anti-Trumpers have lots of bad information in their heads. My best most heartfelt advice is for them to write down who said what that made them so upset, so that in 2020 they know who to blame.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
Some libs are so closed minded that it is pointless to discuss anything of importance with them.
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
@IronHamster That's how we feel about some conservatives. Funny how that works.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
There is no ideology bereft of idiots, but liberalism as can be judged in any number of episodes has their ranks packed full of non-thinkers.
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
No. Trump Supporters don't deserve my friendship.
That’s a little rude@PDXNative1986
PDXNative1986 · 36-40, MVIP
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Oh well. [media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHolRZeQNG4]

You're talking to a slytherin. my friends are special. Trump Supporters are trash. Even hufflepuff wouldn't take them.

One of my friends is a Trump supporter. We are very closed and talk about everything but not about politics. That's how we are able to keep our friendship. ☺️
beckyromero · 36-40, FVIP
Doubtful.

But it would probably depend on WHY she or he is a Trump supporter.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@MissPriscillaPrim You need medication.
MissPriscillaPrim · 70-79, T
@IronHamster Since I'm no longer around to read that, I can't possibly reply. 😉
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@MissPriscillaPrim Don't reply then. You have poor conversation skills.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
Not the extreme ones - the far right are included in his supporters list.
I am a Trump supporter. Some non supporters talk to me some don’t. It’s up to them.
As an altfurry, I can't stand people who put politics over person. I will be friends with anyone I don't deem a douchebag.
Jacob94 · 22-25, M
@FearfulHarmonyReborn It’s not just about politics it’s fundamental values. I could easily be friends with people who voted for say Romney in 2012, McCain in 08 or Bush. With them, it’s a simple disagreement on policies. When someone supports a guy who talks about grabbing women by the pussy, or referring to other women in politics dogs, I’m sorry but I cannot be friends with someone like that.
@Jacob94 Alright.
I don't want to speak to you or any of you friends because of [insert thing you said over 20 years ago, thing you said behind closed doors, thing you are only rumoured to have done/said, etc.]
MissPriscillaPrim · 70-79, T
@Fernie I have a friend who'se made a well-paid career in service to the wealthy, and he voted for Trump simply because he knew which side his bread his buttered on. I know he's not a douchebag. Otherwise he's smart and imaginative and has raised a great family. He's still my friend, and we agreed just never to bring up politics.
greenmountaingal · 80-89, F
One of my friends supports Trump though she couldn't vote for him because, although she has lived in the US for 30 years, she is Canadian.

So, she must be a Torie.

Put up a poster of Justin on the wall the next time she comes over.

😂

Dolimyte · 41-45, M
Depends on their reasoning for it
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@MarineBob But you’re also not a liberal, right ?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@MissPracillaPrim, I find it highly offensive that you would choose the word "rape" to describe something someone else said.
MissPriscillaPrim · 70-79, T
@IronHamster Look up the meaning of the word "metaphor." Read more carefully and notice I wrote about raping the truth, not another person.
I suspect you're making a comment about the extremes of so-called "politically correct" speech. If you believe too many get way too bent out of shape over certain words no matter their context, I heartily agree with you.
IronHamster · 56-60, M
But, you are being grossly unfair in your characterizations.
Xuan12 · 36-40, M
Oh sure. Many of them just voted that way because they didn't care and they're other friends were doing it. I've glanced on the topic with them and I'm pretty confident they know we don't agree, but it doesn't really come up much anyway. Most of my friends work with me or in a related field, and we've had to many idiotic patients of every variety to pin things onto one particular variety of people like folks do online. lol, just recently had a "cowboy" (most just wear a hat and boots and style themselves a cowboy, probably work at target, lol) make a direct death threat to someone present while I was treating him, then got surprised when he got cuffed.
daisymay · 51-55, T
No. They've already demonstrated a lack of critical thinking that approaches the level of being a danger to me just by voting for that moron.

Some of mine are.
You have to remember just one thing here... Prior to Trump's Presidency and for the preceding 30+ years, Trump himself has always confirmed himself to be a Liberal; not a Conservative! This is a documented fact that Trump is quoted as making right within the books that have been written about him since the late 1980's.

So what America has today is a President who is pretending to be a Republican, but in fact is a President who does not fundamentally support traditional Republican (Conservative) values. That is why the face of the Republican Party has changed so much since Trump took Office. The modus operandi of his Administration is to somehow walk both sides of the line, but even in Trump's private life, Trump has continuously proven that he is not at all good at pretending what he is not!

In answering your question then, first please tell me what exactly is one actually supporting when one is considered a supporter of Donald J. Trump, the non-Republican President?
Whatever....they’ve all lied. We all lie. He’s doing good things for the country. Plain and simple. I don’t care about his past as long as he keeps his promises and delivers to the American people. Liberals just don’t want to see it. Sad.@Xuan12
Xuan12 · 36-40, M
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Don't care bout a person's past as long as they say what you want to hear? Do you extend this charity to others too?
@MissMollyCharlotte0702

Why is it that only Donald Trump thinks he is doing great things for the country? And now you are supporting his claim as well?! What you are reiterating in your beliefs, is Trump's own grandstanding; not the grandstanding of American people whom are benefiting from Trump's alleged efforts. I have yet to see a single American show evidence of how Trump's agenda has benefited them personally. What has actually been achieved by Trump however, is very little. You have The Great Wall of Trump, half-constructed but grossly underfunded. But a steel wall? Really? So what?

Lots of talk by Trump; lots more of the standard bullshit from Trump, but nothing really tangible has he achieved that would actually substantiate his self-perception of being the great achiever he sees himself to be.

Be very careful Trump doesn't try to sell you some swampland in Florida... By the way you are talking, you sound like you would be among the first ones whom I would expect would submit an offer to purchase, based solely on what you view as Trump's unwavering integrity as a Leader and businessman!
strongbow · 46-50, M
I value my friends by the friendships we have, not their politics, only liberals do that
