Trump is gutting America
America is an idea. Strip freedom, human rights, democracy and the rule of law from what the United States represents to the world and America itself is gutted.
He is a nut job but he is not gutting America. What you have with Trump is people saying enough is enough and wanting to slam on the breaks in order to get away from the socialist left wing of the Democratic party. He has done an outstanding job of that.

So what will the Democrats do in response, what they should do is put up a good moderate Democrat. But what they probably will do is think people don't like Trump so much that they put up a far left candidate and get elected. If they do the latter then Trump will be in for another term.

@Johnson212 The free press, freedom of speech and the impartiality of justice are not noted socialist preoccupations.

These are all things Trump is attacking. I hope America hasn't had enough of them.

The social preoccupations are where the government though regulation and taxes are forcing me to be my brothers keeper. I am not interested in that. I don't want the country run by the likes of Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi, not interested in their tax and spend policies. Bill Clinton was a moderate and that is why he was successful, Hillary is a left wing progressive and the country did not want to go there. The 2016 primary pushed the Democratic Party further to the left than any time in its history and that is why Trump got elected.

Quit your whining about freedom of speech or show me where we lost it, Trump lashes out at the media when he does not like what they say but he has done nothing to keep them from saying it. He has the same freedom of speech to verbally attack them. He is not controlling the presses.

@Johnson212 He isn't yet controlling the presses, but he has indicated that he wants to.

What you are "interested in" is not that interesting. You either reject what Trump says he wants the power to do, or you don't.

The question is, will you stand up for America's core values when Trump attacks them? Or will you dismiss people who stand up for them as "whiners" because you don't like "regulations" or whatever else.

And yes, POTUS has the same freedom to speak, but the consequences are not the same. Because his statements are now policy directions.

@WoodyAq I am just saying you can thank your far left liberal ideas for Trump. Instead of being mad at Trump supporters you should be mad at your fellow democrats who took away the alternatives. Trump has never gone after any of my constitutional rights but Hillary made no secret she was after the Second Amendment. When I voted for Trump I was not voting for Trump I was voting to stop her.

@Johnson212 1) I'm not a Democrat.

2) He is going after the constitution. It hasn't affected you directly yet, but it will eventually. It is impacting others now, which you apparently don't care about, so ... great attitude. America doesn't have enough selfish people.

3) No, I'm pretty comfortable blaming Trump for Trump's actions, and blaming the people who voted for him and the Republicans who currently enable him either directly, or through inaction for inflicting him upon us.

I'm a conservative, which used to mean believing in taking responsibility for one's own choices.

You support what Trump is doing, or you don't, but you tolerate it because you want your tax cut, or whatever, that is on you.

I think it is an extremely bad choice that will greatly diminish America, more quickly and thoroughly than the other choices, however bad they may also be.

@WoodyAq I am not a big trump supporter but he has served my purposes, he stopped Hillary from getting elected and has given us a supreme court that will stop judicial activism from stripping me of my second amendment rights.
WoodyAq · M
@Johnson212 As I said, that's on you. For people like me, who prize principles and want good government, that makes you part of the problem.
