Anyone see Trish Regan make a complete fool of herself and get utterly stomped on by the internet?

She went on Fox Business Channel to try to take shots at the country of Denmark by comparing them to Venezuela and saying Danes are lazy entitled losers with low employment and no freedoms. And a Danish politican fired back and her and absolutely devastated her. The response has become way more viewed than Trish's original segment is.

i sort of never understood this hate of the democratic socialist northern european countries. they have damn lean and efficient economies and high metrics of personal satisfaction and happiness. ya can't just talk crap that away.

@CopperCicada Because they have high tax rates and free press, limit big business, and they don't wage a multitude of overseas military campaigns. And remember, this is AMERICA, meaning we have FREEDOMS. And that includes the FREEDOM to be taken advantage of by corporations, and the FREEDOM to die from the lack of access to basic healthcare, and the FREEDOM to have all our tax money spent on bombing countries on the other side of the globe that represent no threat to our homeland.
@BlueMetalChick I never got the tax argument. Got lower taxes. Check. Go bankrupt and in some states have a lien on my house because of a medical crisis in the family. People have their wages garnished for life for educational expenses. But then we argue why should I pay for somebody else's healthcare? Well. Unless we're willing to step over dead people going into the grocery we either pay now or pay later.

@CopperCicada There's this really slimy and disingenuous, but incredibly effective, trick that the elite class has been playing on Americans for decades now. Through pro-capitalist propaganda, the wealthy have been able to convince the working class that the solutions to their economic struggles is not a system that attemps to mitigate income inequality and provide equal opportunity to as many citizens as possible. They've persuaded Americans to view themselves as potential millionaires who are being held back by their fellow working class citizens, they think they deserve to be part of the elite class but they're being impeded by everyone else who is in the same position they are. By manipulating the populace to think of their own goals in life as being the parallel to the goals of the wealthy, as opposed to in contrast with them, they've effectively managed to make vast numbers of people willingly, and even eagerly, oppose their own economic, political, and social interests. It works so well because it feeds upon the most common human emotion: selfishness. This propaganda technique is fueled by avarice, and that's the most important element that makes it so successful.

[c=#4C0073]I have never seen this explained so eloquently. I was literally having this conversation with a sorely misguided friend a few days ago. When you say anything close to socialism to certain people its like a switch flips. They stop listening and just spew nonsense like “socialism is communism” and “ I work for my money everyone should work for their money.” Im like ok everyone does work for their money but what shouldn’t happen is people work 80 hour weeks and still can’t afford to feed, house, and clothe themselves. There is something fundamentally wrong with that.[/c]@BlueMetalChick

@VioletRayne It also makes me laugh abit as people don't seem to understand or want to understand that here in the good old USA, we HAVE forms of socialism and no one I have ever talked to want them to go away.
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@Pherick [c=#4C0073]True. I also don’t get why people have so much hate and animosity towards each other over party systems. It’s starting to resemble warring religious sects. It’s really insane. [/c]
@Pherick The nuance of socialism re political organization vs. socialism re capital distribution is totally lost. I've never understood that.
@VioletRayne it is like warring religious sects in that people claim to have the one and only truth. i can see liberal and conservative solutions to problems. is see left and right as just forms of analysis, schema of action. not "truth".
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@CopperCicada [c=#4C0073]i agree totally. I was an independent for a very long time because of that in spite of the shite I got from my family. The crazies that have come out of the woodwork made me choose a side just because I didn’t want to be associated with that nonsense. [/c]
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@VioletRayne It's so incredibly frustrating because you know they don't have a conflict of interest, and you feel like you're trying to explain why they should do things that make their lives better but they keep rejecting it.
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@BlueMetalChick [c=#4C0073]OMG yes. When you’re a family of five with two incomes living in a two bedroom apt because that’s all you can afford but you’re afraid of the big bad socialism. I’m just looking at you like wtf? It can only help your situation. [/c]
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@VioletRayne So then you try to break it down for them, explain what corporate subsidies are and explain how it's essentially reverse-engineered socialism for rich people, and they immediately run to "stupid liberal snowflake triggered beta cuck transgender faggot".
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@BlueMetalChick 😄😆😂🤣[c=#4C0073]“yasss. Or the companies deserve that money because they create the jobs🙄. The companies deserve your tax dollars because they create the jobs but they aren’t paying you enough to have your children not packed into rooms like sardines?!? The kool aide is strong in this one. I don’t understand how you’re not getting it. Just tell me where you got lost and I’ll backtrack. [/c]
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@VioletRayne Oh god, "trickledown economics." Give your money to the rich cos then they'll spend more and that will magically make the economy stronger and wages will go up or some vague shit like that. And yet it never occurs to them that those people are ALREADY rich and have the money to spend, but they don't fucking do it. So why would making them even richer somehow change that? It's like you go to the doctor with a first degree burn and he says "Maybe if you hold a blowtorch to the burn, it'll make it heal."

Oh, and we can't tax corporations or rich people because it inhibits "growth." It's always about growth, whatever the flipping fuck that means. "We need the economy to grow." Aaaaaaand HOW does that happen? What does growth look like?
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@BlueMetalChick [c=#4C0073]or that we’ve had literally years of trickle down economics to the point where the wealth gap is staggering and they have historically stored all this money in off shore banks like squirrels store nuts for the winter only winter never comes for them because the money keeps coming in. I really don’t understand how you think that doing the same thing we’ve been doing for decades is going to change anything. It’s time to try something else. We just had a recession because of the deregulation and you want to keep on deregulating?!? I don’t get it.[/c]
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@VioletRayne People will actually try to tell you that things like Glass-Stegal are bad for the economy because it's a government regulation and all regulations are bad. Despite that Glass-Stegal was implemented after the Great Depression to prevent it from happening again. All it does is require that banks don't take high risk investments on their customers' money.
@VioletRayne the amazing thing to me is that the plebs have been trained to forget that they are the ones who generate this nation's 20T$ of capital. we're conned into believing it's upper and middle management, not labor. and the plebs have taken on an eroded esteem on the basis of that.
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@BlueMetalChick [c=#4C0073]which is exactly what just happened with the housing market and mortgages that caused the economy to crash 🙄 There are literally tent cities in the richest, most powerful nation on earth and you’re looking to rich people to do what’s right?!? Please tell me when that has ever happened? [/c]
VioletRayne · 31-35, F
@CopperCicada [c=#4C0073]Yes, they forget that they have the power to tank entire Businesses. What do you think would happen if everyone started growing their food and refusing to shop at markets or started bartering instead of logging into amazon? [/c]
