Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats expresses surprise at the news that Trump is inviting Putin to meet in the US.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the planned visit in a tweet, saying that national security adviser John Bolton extended the invitation and that “discussions are already underway.”
As the late afternoon tweet landed, Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats was on stage at the Aspen Security Forum in the middle of an interview with NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, who broke the news to him. Coats, clearly surprised, took a deep breath.
“Say that again,” he said. “Did I hear you?”
She repeated the news.
“Okaaaay,” Coats said. “That’s going to be special.”
Dan Coats is extremely far right. This reaction is telling. It’s getting harder for those in the know to claim that the emporer has clothes. Of course the rube population of 35% or so will or cannot see the truth.
@luckranger71 Yes, Coats is to the right of Pence, and slightly to the left of Jesus. Wait, no, that would make him a communist, so only slightly to the right of Pence.
