How do adults raise families on that

@Sophiewargamer They get food stamps and welfare. Their bosses teach them how to apply for it too. It's essentially a subsidy to whatever corporation they work for. It's basically, "I'll pay you a little, and then the government will finish the job of paying you"
@33person guess I’ll stop pestering my parents for extra pennies

@Sophiewargamer What's that have to do with it?

@Sophiewargamer That's the minimum wage. Most people don't work minimum wage. The unfortunate thing is that there exist many people who do work minimum wage as adults while trying to raise a family. So this is about helping the poor. I don't know how much your parents make. Possibly much more than $7.25 per hour.
@33person I’ve no idea

@Sophiewargamer Also, this is in the U.S. If you are elsewhere, the minimum wage is different. If you are anywhere in Western or Northern Europe, minimum wage workers aren't as poor.

@Sophiewargamer £7.83 is your minimum wage for people age 25 and over. That is equivalent to around $10.50 or so in US dollars. So minimum wage workers in the UK are somewhat better off than in the U.S. The U.S. government is massively right wing.
