Ivanka. She, at least, is young enough still that she might be saved.

@DunningKruger Really? She's been an adult for quite some time. Seems pretty clear that she loves money and power.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@VolpeTredici Yes, but there's always the hope that she could, with a great deal of effort, become a decent person.

Of course, I may be entirely influenced by the fact that she's hot.
VolpeTredici · 31-35, M
@DunningKruger I think you are because the same goes for trump, and pretty much any other human.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@VolpeTredici I disagree. I think that, for most people, there is always the possibility of redemption, the possibility that they can learn compassion and empathy.

Trump? Maybe when he was a kid. By the time he was in his teens, I imagine he was irreversibly broken. The same with the Trump boys. Total, irredeemable sociopaths, the lot of them. And, honestly, probably the same with Ivanka.

@DunningKruger It's a true reflection of how we're the product of our environment and upbringing, huh?
VolpeTredici · 31-35, M
@DunningKruger Any mind can be changed with enough motivation/pain.
VolpeTredici · 31-35, M
@DunningKruger Oh, and maybe love could do it too. Haven't seen proof of this though.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay Maybe. I don't know how much empathy is a skill that can be learned and how much an innate characteristic that is beyond our control. If you look at Trump's father and grandfather and his own children, it might be easy to say that lack of empathy is genetic — this is a family with generations of horrible excuses for human beings. How much of that came from their upbringing and how much was innate in their genes? No idea.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@VolpeTredici Only if its self motivation. No one has ever been punished into becoming a better person.
VolpeTredici · 31-35, M
@DunningKruger "Better person" is 100% subjective.
Empathy isn't necessary to be good though. Many sociopaths and such lead good lives.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@VolpeTredici True. Empathy isn't necessary to be good. It probably isn't even necessary to be just not bad. I think it is necessary, though, to not be evil.
VolpeTredici · 31-35, M
@DunningKruger Well if you can be good without it. I doubt you're doomed to be evil without it.
I'm sure it makes "evil" easier though.
