Do you have evidence to say that immigration damages your country?

Economic or otherwise. This is not gonna be a debate about the legality or ethics of immigration, just the impact. Anecdotal evidence is less neutral and less significant than statistics.

I mean, Canada wouldn't exist without immigration. Maybe the First Nations people have some very strong opinions about it, but otherwise we not only require immigration, but we need a LOT MORE. Underpopulation is causing all sorts of logistical problems.
@CountScrofula My friends’ 9 year old has announced that he wants to emigrate to Canada. And he’s half Native American.
Seriously, you need workers ? 🤔

@bijouxbroussard Population is a kind of 'goldfish grows to fill its bowl' situation. The mere presence of additional population creates jobs. It's not like countries with higher populations have higher unemployment rates - other factors create that.

Canada has a very stern immigration policy which lets in a steady flow of typically highly qualified 'ideal' immigrants with an appallingly racist history. I'm in favour of opening the floodgates, provided we can adequately plan for the influx of people.

Aside from the benefits to infrastructure, transit, telecom, and the like it also just makes it a more interesting country. I wanna live in the cool place with people from all over the world. Canada is better situated to create that vibe than almost anywhere in the world.

@TotalMiss Increasing population is going to almost entirely go to cities which are long-settled land claims. Most of Treaty 8 where I live (for example) is still gonna remain just that. It's not like if we add a bunch of people we're going to plunk down new cities in the middle of northern BC or whatever.

That said the Indigenous peoples need sovereignty, real authority over decisions made about it, and the wealth that comes from resource extraction. Not to mention a ton of federal money put into solving housing, water, infrastructure, MMIW, and other issues.

No matter how Canada goes going forward they need a LOT more power and authority.

@TotalMiss Unrelated to the point I was making about immigration vs colonialism in Canada.
