Trump's sheep-like accolytes tend to conveniently forget that he was a registered Democrat and a friend of the Clintons before switching parties to pander to voters.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Graylight Plenty of political figures have switched parties for political reasons.

Why do you hold Trump in contempt when Bernie Sanders, Ronald Reagan, Elizabeth Warren, and fucking Hillary Clinton herself all switched parties for purely political reasons?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SumKindaMunster I don't hold him in contempt. I was referring to the tendency of his followers toward myopia.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Graylight Oh come on. Your comment history consistently demonstrates otherwise.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SumKindaMunster I am unabashed in calling Trump the one human I might be able to say I actually hate. His party affiliation has little to do with it.

After all, why should I be concerned with political parties when Trump is concerned only with himself and his status?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Graylight Well that's a better answer than your first one. As you know and have demonstrated there are plenty of things he says and does that upset you.

My personal feeling is that we should be fair and realistic when it comes to discussing Trump. If you are going to call him out for his poor behavior, I will challenge you to demonstrate what he is doing is any different than anyone else currently in power.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SumKindaMunster The fact that his bad behavior isn't original in no way exempts a discussion of the things he does or has done.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Graylight I certainly didn't say that. I was asking that the discussion stay rooted in reality and IF you are going to call out Trump for his behavior, you should acknowledge that he is not the only one who has done such things and if you are holding him in contempt for such behavior you should be ready to discuss why it doesn't matter to you that other people have done identical or similar things and have gotten a pass on it.

And yes, I am well aware his words and rhetoric are "problematic" to put it in the least possible terms.
Graylight · 51-55, F
The original discussion concerned Trump's semming approval of Hillary Clinton. I offered a reminder of why that might be. My opinion on the matter is fairly irrelevant to the conversation. Period.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Graylight Your opinion is irrelevant???? Then why respond at all? Isn't that what all political discussions are? Ones opinion on a political issue or candidate?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SumKindaMunster The intent of my post was to point out a fact, not state my opinion (though I'm fully aware I did, vaguely).

This is beginning to fee like All Around the Mulberry Bush.

@Graylight I'm good, that's what I needed to hear. Thank you.

I don't think Hillary Clinton ever said about Barry Goldwater, "Lock him up!"
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@beckyromero So? What's your point?
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@SumKindaMunster

It is likely that Trump really has no political conscience (many of his current stances are diametrically opposed to what conservatives have harped about for decades), nothing that caused him to switch parties like the experiences of the 60s for Hillary, opposing communism like Reagan, etc.

He played the game when he could shower (no pun intended) politicians of either party with money. Then he saw an opportunity of a weak Republican field to make a grab for power.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@beckyromero Agreed. However, neither does any politician in the modern age. He's no different than any of the other politicians pretending to be horrified by his stances or rhetoric.
