Trump should get part credit for it, but only part, and certainly not a Nobel. If you read more than what Trump says, it's obvious the main reason Kim, if he actually does go through with this whole peace thing, is bargaining is that China more or less cut him off from trade. Yes, sanctions that the U.S. put on North Korea helped, but it was not the main reason.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@frequentlyme No it isn't. You can't admit that China went after North Korea because Trump started to pressure China. Again why didn't China go after N.K years ago?
frequentlyme · 70-79, M
@GunSmoke9 china didn't go after NK because there was no need. NK until recently was a nothing, a big zero to anyone but South Korea, and by extension, because we protected South Korea, the United States. It was a drain on us militarily and economically, and so China was happy to let it be. Since the ratcheting up of tensions, them (NK) becoming more of a nuclear power, and the implications to China, they levied sanctions. I'm sure there were other reasons, reasons we may never know, but that's a pretty good summary of major reasons.

You saying President Obama did not deserve the Nobel is as meaningless a most of what you have said. No meaning whatsoever. Those who award it did say:

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

@frequentlyme What I have to say is only meaningless to those with a closed mind. Obama got the Nobel peace prize for doing Nothing, Nothing. He got for what he might do. When they gave him the award what did he accomplished at that point? Right, nothing. Later, he made Iran more of a threat. Billions of dollars to a terrorist state. Think the committee wants their prize back. I do. Trump done for for peace in a year than your hero, Obama did in eight years. By the way should the Yankees be awarded the world series championship now because some think they will win it? Or should they actually win it before they get the prize? I tried to make the question easy for you. Still might be over your head.

I bet he’s jelly that he wasn’t there when both leaders from the North and South crossed the DMZ. A momentous even in history and he wasn’t even there. 😂😂😂

He must have been thinking, “I made this happen and I wasn’t invited 😢”

I love to examine our current POTUS.
It is a soap drama !
He doesn’t deserve it at any level.
Trump is a terrorist
@SW-User
Enough to get everyone killed.
They did name a detention center after him.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SomeLikeItHot Then you don't know what the meaning of terrorist is.
@GunSmoke9
Anytime a person frightens US citizens intentionall or by stupidity I give them the title.
I’m afraid trump is just plain stupid.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
What if they agree to a nuclear deal and then years later they decided to pull out wanting a better deal? 😆
Graylight · 51-55, F
First, what is "falling in line?" Capitulating to US demands? Since when are we the Lords of the Globe?

So far, he's done nothing of the sort as far as taming Kim. The meeting regarding the release of the three detainees took place before Pompeo ever met with Kim. Kim has not agreed to nuclear disarmament but only to the idea of nuclear deceleration.

What he has done is congratulate Kim for treating the detainees in an "excellent manner." Forgetting, I assume, that they were detained and housed under his rule for questionable reasons. What he has done is laud what he assumes will be record-breaking ratings regarding the story, because if it's not on TV it never happened.

Should he make a tangible and lasting contribution to peace, he will get credit where credit's due. But that time hasn't happened quite yet.
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
The Korean Peninsula peace is not a product of trump, it’s a product of Kim becoming nuclear, the bargaining chip

It’s highly unlikely, given trumps persona and he being an international pariah, that he will win a novel prize, but if he does he will defo share it with Kim... 😬

Trump is being played
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@Beelzebubba Nice way to switch subjects. Record unemployment numbers, jobs coming back, getting NATO to pay more. I could go on but it will be like talking to a wall.
Beelzebubba · 51-55, M
@GunSmoke9 what type of jobs?

There still are real gaps in the market. The manufacturing sector needs a different set of skills .

look at wages. the dark side of the tax package will hit for lower wage earners.

no fucks to give about nato. thats an isolationist wet dream.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Beelzebubba
I’ve asked this question myself. What jobs has he created? We all know that the unemployment numbers has been looking good for a number of years.
neeneen · M
No, Trump isn't doing anything. Kim is just doing his usual manipulation of building tension then negotiating again.
neeneen · M
@neeneen Also he has destabalized the entire middle east again, so no no no
@neeneen lol ... yea yea yea ... you lost ... Trump won ... get over it
neeneen · M
@questionWeaver That doesn't make sense on any level

It's a very big if and considerable long and detailed negotiations will be required before anything called peace or denuclearisation happens.

Not disagreeing. I’d love to see that speech.

Kim has spent the country's resources getting to where he is... What makes you think he will give it all up?
TJNewton · M
@ozgirl512 He wont
@ozgirl512 interesting and a good challenge ... I, for one, have believed he saw a true pragmatic in Trump ... and he finally had a way out ... his missiles weren't threats ... they were product demos ... he was just raising the price ... not trying to win anything but get a good settlement.

thereis no way mad dog kim jong un will fall in place its all a big bluff
