Leaving aside for the moment that car licencing and operation are far more strictly monitored than guns: Our society is set up in such a way that cars are a necessary means of transportation. Getting to your job, the grocery store, your kid's school.
Public transportation just can't accommodate everyone.

Tell me why you need an AR 15 to go about your daily life.
Go on. I'll wait馃檪
SW-User
@Pikachu Why does every gun have to be an AR? Do you know anything about guns? Probably not.

Cars are also a luxury. We do have trains, buses, etc which can replace car ownership.

Guns are for sport, hunting, or collecting among other things.

In some ways yes. In other ways no. You cannot dismiss the fact that cars are an integral part of urban life by pretending that public transit can accommodate everyone. It sure can't for me. No buses to my job. It's 30 minute drive and that's the place i go to make sure i can put food on my table and a roof over my head. Maybe you have enough money to pay 20 or 30 bucks for a cab to and from wherever but i don't. Funnily enough, i never can't provide for myself because i don't have a gun.

Thank you. My point exactly. Most people want pleasure activities. You don't need them to live your life. I'm not saying ban all guns. But i've yet to hear a good reason why we shouldn't throw down some harsher restrictions.
SW-User
@Pikachu Here is the thing. The motive of the movement is to eventually ban guns. People like you say you dont want to ban guns but would celebrate if it happened. Banning and restricting things does not make it better. Detroit and Chicago have strick gun laws and the worst violence with guns.
@SW-User

Yes, yes. And countries where there is good gun control have far less.
But thanks for conceding the point that cars and guns are not the same issue.
SW-User
@Pikachu Good gun control does not equal less murders. Let me give you some facts:

Switzerland has relatively lenient gun control for Europe, and has the third-lowest homicide rate of the top nine major European countries, and the same per capita rate as England and Wales, where restrictions are much tighter.

Strict controls over existing arms failed in Finland.

Handgun homicides in England and Wales reached an all-time high in 2000, years after a virtual ban on private handgun ownership. More than 3,000 crimes involving handguns were recorded in 1999-2000, including 42 homicides, 310 cases of attempted murder, 2,561 robberies and 204 burglaries

A ten-year Australian study has concluded that firearm confiscation had no effect on crime rates

@Pikachu Prohibition never works. We did alcohol, weed, and others and it never works. So face reality. Banning guns will not create your utopia.
@SW-User

Sorry. Would you please compare for me the number of mass shootings in the US since january 2018 to the number canada has had in the last 20 years ?

I'll give you a hint: It's over 30 to 8.

Point made馃槒
SW-User
@Pikachu But great Norway, Finland and Switzerland have a higher per capita rate of mass shootings
SW-User
@Pikachu Point made
@SW-User

lol Look at that statistic i gave you. 30 mass shootings in a few months VS 8 in 20 years. How about 5% of the world's population and 31% of its mass shootings?
How about Australia? How does the Us compare to them?

And you want to pretend that there's not a problem with guns?
SW-User
@Pikachu Why keep changing countries to validate your argument?

In order of Highest to Lowest crime rate: 1:Columbia, 2:U.K., 3:Iceland, 4:Mexico, 5:Montserrat, 6:Sweden, 7:New Zealand, 8:Finland, 9:Belgium, 10:Denmark, 11:Netherlands, 12:Germany, 13:Canada, 14:Norway, 15:Austria, 16:France, 17:S.Africa.
The U.S. is #27

So, you can list all the numbers you want, banning guns is not going to give you the utopia you dream of. Just like the confederate flag and now guns, what else do you plan to ban?
@SW-User

lol why do you keep changing statistics to validate your argument.

We're talking gun violence and mass shootings. I'm pointing out that for the most part good gun control leads to far fewer incidents of this kind.

Do you have a counter argument for that? No, of course not. You're just happy to make the claim that gun restriction won't help so we shouldn't bother.馃槒
SW-User
@Pikachu like I pointed out, the U.S. is not number 1 in mass shootings. The countries like Norway that have a higher per capita compared to the U.S. and they have strict gun regulations and you never answered that but brought up Australia.
@SW-User

Like i pointed out: The US is doing shit poor compared to almost every other developed nation.
But you keep pretending that gun control won't help.馃槍
SW-User
@Pikachu It has not helped in various other countries, why would it be any different here.
@SW-User

8 in 20 years. 30 in a few months.
lol whatever you say, dude.
SW-User

Not as bad as these
SW-User
@Pikachu Ban guns here before talking about the U.S. Wait, most of these places already have strict gun regulations.....
SW-User
@Pikachu Just some numbers for you to read since you like them:
