Guns: Here is one writer’s idea. Can anyone disagree with this as a starting point?

Universal background checks. This means a National Instant Criminal Background Check for every buyer of every firearm. Last July, Pew Research Center found that 85 percent of Americans — 88 percent of Democrats and 79 percent of Republicans — favored making background checks mandatory for private gun sales and sales at gun shows. Those are Mom and Apple Pie numbers. An earlier poll by Frank Luntz found that a 74 percent majority of past and present NRA members favored expanded background checks.
Ban the bump stock used in Las Vegas. The bump stock turns a semiautomatic weapon into an automatic weapon, which already is banned. In a poll last year, a majority of registered voters wanted the device banned — 79 percent of Democrats and 68 percent of Republicans.
Deny guns to patients diagnosed mentally ill. A HuffPost/YouGov poll in 2014 showed that 54 percent to 23 percent of Americans wanted states to confiscate guns owned by people diagnosed with mental illness. There should be a review process to restore their rights after they recover.
Deny guns to suspected terrorists. Those on a watch list, who currently can buy guns, must be stopped. A method to restore rights must be included.
Age 21 to buy any gun. Under federal law, you must be 21 to buy a handgun. Raise to 21 the age to buy a rifle. It is lethal, too.
One gun purchase a month. That will slow the multiple straw purchaser illegally buying for someone not eligible to own.

Why don't you stop kissing liberal butt, we don't need any new gun laws. We just need secure borders, respect for our police, teachers and military and the appreciation for the traditional nuclear family. We didn't have this problem before 30 years ago because liberals used to be laughed at. But then people went and vote for a radical Marxist scumbag like Obama. He has taken a wrecking ball to traditional American values and western civilization. Some people wish to kiss his ass for it, and others wish to kiss the ass of those who kiss his ass. Frauds, phonies and souls which have been bought and paid for by Marxist ideologues who hate this country.

The answer to this problem lies within the soul of each individual, basic common sense and respect. You won't find it in the vile disease of liberalism for these people no longer subscribe to either common sense nor do they have a soul. People who think they are rationale are oblivious to reality. How long will you continue to kiss liberal butt? How many times are you willing to murder your soul to compromise with an ideology that wishes to destroy your way of life?

The greatest problem today is a governmental tyranny out of control. Its overreach knows no bounds, it's claws are everywhere. And I am going to support something which will make it more bold and arrogant. A thumbed down electorate dearth of logic is more dangerous than any physical weapon because it is most likely to make dire decisions when wrapped up in emotion.

@jackjjackson What is extreme is catering to a bunch of scumbag liberals and conversing with them every day. It stunts the mind, they are the extreme ones, they ushered in this police state and inch by inch they take away everything which is free and good. Keep kissing their rear ends and see where it gets you. You like to cater to liberals because you are afraid to take a stand. You rather exist in life feeling good and making others happy while sacrificing purpose. How did the last fifty years of liberalism work out? Good men have sat idly by and made excuses for the chaos which this plague has unleashed upon society. This is the last roundup, the last chance to take a stand. I rather live a life with purpose and take a stand against a bunch of extreme leftist fanatics who have pushed the goal posts so far to the left that well intentioned people such as yourself can no longer see the difference.

You deal with extremists on this site every day, you converse with them every single day. You give credence to their actual way of warped thinking by engaging them. You are their perfect prey, for you legitimize their irrationality. Good luck being the nice guy, to each his own.
