People who say Trump is "hellbent" on starting World War 3

Are literally echoing what people said about Reagan when he called the Soviet Union the "evil empire".

Take it back a notch.

And all the claims of being a narcissist, he doesn't fit the requirements for the diagnosis
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Actually, he does. Ask any psychiatrist for a candid opinion.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@windinhishair Wrong, even by your own standards of asking any psychiatrist.

I don't need their expert opinion to tell me that I am right though. I've seen the way people throw around the words narcissist, sociopath, and psychopath without actually understanding what the words mean. I'll say Trump is narcissistic but he is not a narcissist. If that doesn't make sense then I would ask that you read about NPD extensively before you help spread this misinformation.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand It isn't misinformation when it is correct. In the very article you cited is this: "According to Psychology Today, to which Professor Frances contributes, NPD is indicated by five or more of the following symptoms:

1. Exaggerates own importance
2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, beauty, intelligence or ideal romance
3. Believes he or she is special and can only be understood by other special people or institutions
4. Requires constant attention and admiration from others
5. Has unreasonable expectations of favourable treatment
6. Takes advantage of others to reach his or her own goals
7. Disregards the feelings of others, lacks empathy
8. Is often envious of others or believes other people are envious of him or her
9. Shows arrogant behaviours and attitudes"

Trump clearly exhibits 7 or 8 of these, which would indicate NPD. I have several psychiatrists in my family who have told me personally that is someone like Trump presented at their workplace, he would be admitted for treatment.

The man is mentally compromised and dangerous, and he proves it daily.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
It's misinformation because he's never been diagnosed. As for your psychiatrist family they should have their credentials and titles stripped from them for not following psychological guidelines as NPD is a difficult diagnosis to make even when the professional knows and meets with them personally. Did they also tell you that many of these traits overlap into borderlines and other personality disorders? Where in your conversations with them did they say he was a narcissist? Why did you stick to the vague statement of "he would be admitted for treatment" instead of saying that? Rather than actually take my advice and come back after looking through the resources and data on narcissism like I have done, because it is a part of my life, you just come back here with the line that you know people as if they are incapable of political bias just because they have a degree.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Neither one of us know whether he's been diagnosed, so you can't say he hasn't. He'd never admit it if he has. Psychiatrists are entitled to an opinion--the psychological guidelines apply only to public statements, not someone's personal informed opinion. Yes, I understand that there is overlap between other disorders, and I've already read the resources you cited.

Step back and look at what we're discussing--the president of the United States. He clearly has significant psychiatric issues that negatively impact his ability to serve. We can argue whether he qualifies for NPD or just "world-class narcissism" as your own source put it, but the bottom line is that he is patently unfit to be president with his itchy trigger finger on the nuclear button.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
Then you should discuss that with someone else, my post said that he isn't a narcissist. I take issue with the misuse of an unconfirmed mental status as a platform for politics. I said nothing of his qualifications as president until you brought it up. This was basically an exercise of a one sided discussion where I wasn't even supporting the opposing argument that you ultimately wanted to have discourse on.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Your own post cites an article that calls him a world-class narcissist, yet you claim he isn't a narcissist. OK. You can believe what you want to.

My problem with Trump isn't political. It is based on his erratic actions as president. If someone can't be concerned based on a person's actual behavior, then we are in deeper trouble than I thought.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
"He may be a world-class narcissist, but this doesn’t make him mentally ill, because he does not suffer from the distress and impairment required to diagnose mental disorder."

NPD - narcissistic personality disorder

Use the whole quote and understand that when he said world-class narcissist there was also a "may be" before it.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand So he is saying that although he may be a world-class narcissist, he doesn't qualify for the disorder status because he is high functioning. Even if true, that doesn't diminish the threat he poses due to his demonstrated erratic and dangerous behavior in office.

@Jackaloftheazuresand Enjoy your day, and take some time to smell the roses.
