How STUPID And RACIST Is "Cultural Appropriation"?

Is it "cultural appropriation when black actors play the part of white Founders of the United States like in the painfully stupid musical "Madison"? Would it be "cultural appropriation" for a black man to play James Bond when Ian Fleming created him white? Does cultural appropriation mean NO black or Asian actor can play ANY of Shakespeare's lead characters, because they were all white, and can only Jews play Shylock?

Africans did not invent the violin and Asians did not invent the piano - should ALL blacks and Asians who play in classical symphonies be accused of cultural appropriation and be banned? In fact symphonies and the tone poems themselves were created by white Europeans; should an American Indian be prevented from ever conducting one at a concert?

Careful what you wish for Social Justice Maniacs...you might just get what you demand.

I'm confused by what you think cultural appropriation is.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@SW-User I dont THINK it exists at all....as usual you miss the point. I did not create the term but you can easily educate yourself by going to any SJW website so you can actually have something relevant to add here.
SW-User
@Abrienda No, you just have some weird conservative idea of what people mean by cultural appropriation.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@SW-User REALLY? Shall I quote you some examples from YOUR side? Or maybe YOU can tell us what it means, since everyone else here seems to knw but you?

For example are nonwhites wearing dreadlocks culturally appropriating?
SW-User
@Abrienda Sure quote whatever you want if it'll please you.

Yes, typically.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@SW-User THAT is cultural appropriation? For white girls to wear dreadlocks?
SW-User
@Abrienda Yes, typically.

@SW-User Very well. Were trousers invented in Africa? Was the fedora invented in Asia? And are you Indian, by the way? I should ask a Hindu, specificall
SW-User
@Abrienda No. Probably not. No. Just because something was invented somewhere doesn't mean using it else where is cultural appropriation. This is what I mean by you having some weird conservative idea of what people mean by cultural appropriation.

TROUWSERS were IN FACT invented in ENGLAND by a man named Beau Brummel; the fedora in France. Does that mean Africans are culturally appropriating from whites by wearing TROUSERS? Or am I by wearing a fedora?

Is an Anglo man opening a Mexican restaurant culturally appropriating Mexican culture?

Was Johnny Depp culturally appropriating when he played Tonto in the Lone Ranger?

And unless you are Hindu are you culturally appropriating by using a Hindu god as a username?

Did you miss when I said...

Yes, but it also my actual name.

But you know that Depp was trashed for cultural appropriation yes?

So a Mexican who opens an Italian restaurant is also guilty of cultural appropriation? Or a black man a Chinese restaurant? Of course all Italians are appropriating Chinese culture when they sell pasta because we "know" it was n vented in China right?

Soooo...Indian girls named "Mary" are culturally appropriating?

How about looking at life THIS way? How about blacks being HAPPY we are at a state where white girls WANT to borrow something from another culture without people like you attacking them? How about we should be HAPPY that people from one culture embrace things from another? Maybe we should be HAPPY when a black man plays Richard III not check the program to see if Richard was really black or not? THAT is the conservative world view...your's is filled with hatred and fake grievances, a person who would have been very much at home with Pol Pot or Mao I can see how you would find that "weird".

Finally...thank you for falling into my "dreadlocks" trap. Below please find a famous statue circa 600 AD from Greece...a Spartan warrior wearing dreadlocks which was common then. Unless you think he got the idea from an AFRICAN FASHION MAGAZINE of the time or was so curious about hair design he took a ship to Kenya you see how stupid this whole thing truly is. And how truly uneducated your "weird" view of the world is. [image deleted]

He was definitely trashed for doing the role, as he should have. I don't know of anyone calling it cultural appropriation though, and I certainly wouldn't. There are more reasons to criticize a white person for playing a person of color.

Are you not reading my responses or what?

Probably.

@SW-User Just go away please? You are uncultured, ignorant and bore me...and not just me.

xD

Re: dreadlocks. European cultures had dreadlocks too, but ask yourself, are the white people wearing dreadlocks today dressed like those cultures or does their clothing look more like something from black culture?
