The gift of glass
We exhausted ourselves by alway hiding,
Now left with little energy remaining to show us,
We long to be discovered and to be seen,
For just one other human soul to know us.
We ache to be witnessed by the mirror,
To share the burden of our introspection,
They lift the fog and make things clearer,
And grant us the gift of having a reflection.
Yet when they leave we're prone to break,
We shatter, crack, crumble, and fall apart,
Lost and adrift we're doomed to wander,
Grieving the loss of our identity, our mind, our heart
Now left with little energy remaining to show us,
We long to be discovered and to be seen,
For just one other human soul to know us.
We ache to be witnessed by the mirror,
To share the burden of our introspection,
They lift the fog and make things clearer,

We shatter, crack, crumble, and fall apart,
Lost and adrift we're doomed to wander,
Grieving the loss of our identity, our mind, our heart
