"The Clock"
My clock it sits upon the wall
Checking constantly
Between the long hand and the short
In-between the seconds that fall
The minutes of each and every day
passing of time that holds true
Right there upon that clock
Is something special I made for you
When I’m awake
your the first to appear
And when I am about to fall sleep
I see you , there
‘Tis one of the things I love the most
…. Things I love so tenderly dearly true
And….
Although you may not know it
I talk to you
how are you?
What do you do
Do you like the red shirt or the blue
I look up at the star filled sky
The stars gaze down on by
Sometimes I scrunch my face up really tight
All my wrinkles come to light
Right then and there in the dark
I see you
And
Maybe it’s kind of silly
But the other day I made a sandwich
On one side I drew a heart
And on the other I wrote your name and mine
I ran out of room on that slice of bread
so I wrote xoxoxo …. on the other
The clock was right there watching
As time bid away the hour
And
Sometimes I’m alone
hiking late into the night
talking as if you were just right there
discussing the chipmunks and the deer
What color wildflowers you like
I would often smile
Iooking over at you by my side
in these seconds of time
My happiness is most true
I have to tell you though
It isn’t always easy
I know it’s not
I can tell you for sure I miss my mom
My pillows covered in sorrowful tears
Aching and alone against the nightly hour
a tiny prayer I would say
asking if And just only
just a few precious seconds for me
The words bounce around
Emptied out by the clock
Still Quietly Ticking and quietly tocks
a few seconds to see
Because if I saw your smile
All the bad fades away
And the clock can move forward
Late at night the small hand is on the right
I feel like I may just cry
pretending that you are here
Comforting my sorrows
Late into the night
My hand wrapped inside your own
Sweet loving embrace of two lovers
knowing you are here
Every part of the bad fade away
And
As it is in all of these things
My love , most grandest of gestures
That so , so true of course
You are miles away
When I’m in the dark
Your in the light of day
The clocks ticking continues to play a part
If I could
in true Shakespeare tale
I would toss a pebble
around the world
gently landing on your window sill
Hoping to see you come into the light
separated
from my dear sweet Juliet
To be is not to be
For truly I say it so
There is no poison to swallow
Love could never be so bold
To truly know it is
the hours and the minutes tick away
And
I got a little secret
I must tell it to you
if you look real close at the clock
Between the midnight hour
You will find something special
Reminding me of you
For if you Look right there
Between the 10 and the 2
I taped your picture to my clock
Reminding me that no matter the seconds
The minutes or the hour
distance that keeps us apart
You are always there beside me
Close to my heart
Checking constantly
Between the long hand and the short
In-between the seconds that fall
The minutes of each and every day
passing of time that holds true
Right there upon that clock
