I Write Poetry

Ethnicity, Unknown

What am I?
I've asked myself
What are you?
They've asked of me

No answer to theses questions
Just stories told to me
I have no idea
What I am supposed to be

Not black
Not brown
Not white
Somewhere in between

"You're multiracial"
But what's that even mean?
Unaware of a mix
That makes me, me.

Raised by an idolized adaptation
Of who you thought you were
My whole being
now just a blur.

My roots run deep somewhere
I long to find that spot
Living without the truth
My life is at a stop.

Your rhymes flow well with your subject matter. Often you see too much conformity of subject matter to rhyme, which is a tired cliche. Enjoyed this.
