It’s only been a week, and they are already trying to pretend you never existed.
They let your memory fade with no resistance.
I promise you you won’t be forgotten by me.
Never mind those whose souls are already rotten

You never sold your soul; they stole it from you.
With the promise of return only after a lifetime payment plan, which you cannot provide.
True to their word, you only got your soul back after you died.

My trauma brain shuts down all mental images of you…
But the one that seeps through the unchecked cracks of my mind…
Is one where your body finally gives in, and you die alone.

I avoid searching your name.
Because it means that I have to see your death date next to your birth date…
And I don’t think I can handle that. I’m not ready for that.
I don’t think I’ll ever be ready for that.

So, if I don’t search your name, it means you’re still alive, right?
That’s how it works, right?
You’re not dead...YOU ARE NOT DEAD!
You’re still alive in my mind, and that’ll have to do for now.
