What makes poetry memorable?

Reading /“Good Poems”, collected by Garrison Keillor. The poems in this book he collected are deemed memorable, which makes them good, so he says.

For the simple of mind - *raising my hand - it must be something a child could memorize.

"Mary had a little lamb... " (from Mary's Lamb, 1830) for example.
