What do you think of John Cooper Clarke’s poetry?

Hire car

Double park don’t lock the door
Push the pedals through the floor
Give it loads snd then some more
It’s a hire car baby..

He's a bit of an acquired taste, but I think some of what he writes is very sharp and its contemporary style attractive to those who wouldn't normally give poetry a moment's thought. I don't always find his scatological imagery pleasant, but then, that's the point. As a performance poet it's best if you hear him read his own work, but I can hear his distinctive voice in my head as I read for myself.

John Cooper Clarke (in my opinion) is the Bob Dylan of beat poetry, right down to being a near-exact lookalike.

My favorite poems of his are Evidently Chickentown and Health Fanatic.

Son, let me tell you why this dings:
It’s why we can’t rent nice new things.
I never heard of him, but the few lines you posted tell me he’s a lousy poet.
