Leslé Honoré Poetry

We are leaning into hope
Draping ourselves in faith
Holding in tension
Who we have been
And who we dream of becoming
We are leaning into our birthright
Our bloodright
Our ancestors’ land
Our ancestors’ torture
Our ancestors’ survival
It’s no little thing to see yourself
Where you’ve never seen yourself
It’s no little thing to look at daughters
And say
Your grandmother
Couldn’t vote
Until
1964
couldn’t own
A home
A bank account
A credit card
In HER name until
1974
And now in
2024
We will march into voting booths
And see ourselves on the ballot
For President of the United States

So we are leaning into hope
Draping ourselves in faith
Doing the thing that fear
Anger
And hate
Tells us not to do
We are dreaming
Of a more perfect union
We are reaching for light
In the darkness
We are re writing the
American Dream

Brown Girl, Brown Girl
What do you see
I see a President that looks like me

Your decision - 2024 - changing the course of your future. Right now, at a critical time, we find ourselves facing a massive decision.

Actually, I'm not talking about who we elect to be the next president. What if I told you that the person you vote for on November 5th is not the biggest choice you will make this year? The real issue in 2024 is not about politics or our nation. The most important decision you will make is about your eternal soul!

Have you ever faced this important question: Where will you go when you die? Heaven or Hell? If you would like to know how to make the correct choice, there are a four truths that you must understand.

1. The Bible says that everyone has a problem - Sin.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

2. The Bible says that there is a penalty for that sin - Hell.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

3. The Bible says that this penalty has been paid - Jesus.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

4. The Bible says that a person must turn to the Savior - Repent.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9

Eternal life is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith. Anyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved forever. Being saved is a one time event. All you have to do is ask.

Let me help you word a prayer. Realize it is not mere words that save, but your faith in Jesus Christ.

Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I know I deserve to go to Hell. But I believe that you died on the cross, were buried, and rose from the grave to pay for my sins. Please save me and take me to Heaven when I die. Amen.

A very well written piece of poetry that makes one think how far women have come, how much they have accomplished but how long the road ahead is and how many obstacles are thrown on our path to equality and the full recognition to be on eye level with those that don't endorse that right.
