A poem about God
They'd lose their damn minds
If they knew what God was really like
That there is not anyone or anything he hates
He seeks neither control nor obedience
Only wants what's best for us
All of us
Not "some" of us
No "chosen ones"
All he embraces
Tries to elevate us
Even those who curse his name and spit and scream
They'd lose their damn minds
If they knew he was above sexuality or gender
Above politics-oh you thought God had a party?
Above whatever silly drama they try to start with others who are different
Oh if they only knew, who made them that way to begin with
If they only knew
He doesn't ask anyone to act or be a certain way
He made us each who we are for a reason
Each has a role to play
All are important and all are valued
Oh if they only knew!
Can you imagine if they really knew God?
Some do.
But plenty don't.
Do you?
If they knew what God was really like
That there is not anyone or anything he hates
He seeks neither control nor obedience
Only wants what's best for us
All of us
Not "some" of us
No "chosen ones"
All he embraces
Tries to elevate us
Even those who curse his name and spit and scream
They'd lose their damn minds
If they knew he was above sexuality or gender
Above politics-oh you thought God had a party?
Above whatever silly drama they try to start with others who are different
Oh if they only knew, who made them that way to begin with
If they only knew
He doesn't ask anyone to act or be a certain way
He made us each who we are for a reason
Each has a role to play
All are important and all are valued
Oh if they only knew!
Can you imagine if they really knew God?
Some do.
But plenty don't.
