Things about yesterday's adventure 16 July 2025

I did a lot of things, I started the day with my normal breakfast and a decision to have a good lungs day which is like a good hair day for most people. And so it was.

I went for a 2 hours trip with family to the new grand Egyptian museum, I never visited it before. It was pretty awesome. I have seen some of the monuments at the old museum though.

We explored the place for a while and took pictures then had lunch in the food court area and then the fun started for me and I wanted to try something when I had the chance. It started when this Australian old man who was sitting on the table next to us with his wife approached me and complimented my driving skills of my wheelchair after I turned around in a tight area right next to him, he told me my wheelchair looked fancy and I told him I got it from Turkey. Then he said he's retired and used to drive heavy equipment but not as good as me lol we laughed for a bit and shared names then he left.

I then kept going around and imagining having conversations with random people, little did I know I will actually do it this time!! Then a couple of guards approached for a small conversation, one of them was from my original home governorate.

Then I flipped a switch in my head and I decided to approach people myself instead of them doing it!. I started with a wheelchair user, he looked Arab and was sitting with 2 Kids probably waiting for the wife but I I didn't really ask about that or the kids, I started with "hi, are you Egyptian" but he was Saudi, we talked about how cool that the museum and a lot of places are becoming more and more accessible etc and we exchanged numbers.

Second dude I approached was a 15-year-old kid from Sri Lanka, he was sitting on a bench waiting for his parents.

Third lady was from Poland, who was waiting for her husband I asked her if she spoke English and she said a little. We spoke for a bit about her visit to Egypt and stuff BUT I forgot to mention that I love Polish music 🤦‍♀

Fourth was an old couple from New Zealand, first the wife was responding to me, the man was a bit quiet but slowly got involved in the conversation, I welcomed them to Egypt etc and said that this was my first visit to the museum and so was them but this was his second visit to Egypt, we exchanged names and I left.

That was all and it made me happy and not scared to force myself into the world. I think my new haircut helped a little.

It was a nice day minus a few almost panic attacks in the car and an error in the wheelchair when entering the car at the end of the day but nonetheless I won a good day !

Here some pics 👀👶

I am glad you had a good outing.
You gain confidence each time you approach a stranger and strike up a conversation.
Well done you. 🙂
@Gusman Very true, it was a nice experience
