There's no reason (well, not many) you can't take up residence in a ghost town. Right?

Lack of potable water, not easy to access food, emergency medical care none existent, and the constant risk of explorers visiting, finding your room and trashing it, even if you lock it (locking it will just make them more determined to find out the mystery inside).

I've stayed in all sorts of abandoned buildings when out back packing and stealth camping. Not sure I'd want to set up permanent camp in any of them. As a kid I did find some long abandoned houses in the woods, one was absolutely completely furnished, clothes clean and handing in the closets, couch in great shape, pictures on the tv. But the wall of a entire side fell down, and now nothing is there years later save a basement cellar.

If you move into a ghost town expect to watch stuff break down. Buildings spontaneously collapse. Stairwells that worked fine yesterday give in. Water sources dry up suddenly. People with cameras attached to their helmets walking around filming everything like they own the place.

I'm sold! Or, rather, not sold on taking up residence anytime soon in a ghost town.

Lack of services would be one!

If you like drinking alone at the local saloon, then why not? Probably better than drinking alone at home, right?
