I was born in Quincy Illinois which is right on the Mississippi....we used to go over the bridge and go to the Caves referred to in the book...Those were in Hannibal Missouri....

@Nevertooold I was born in southeast Iowa, about 30 miles from Quincy, and I have been to the caves near Hannibal as well. The Mississippi River referred to in this post is in Ontario, Canada, different from and "unrelated" to the Mississippi River in the United States.

@Nevertooold The mighty Mississippi in the US is a much longer river than the one here in Canada. They both have their own unique history and beauty.
