I just got back from my second "test" that involved having SIX syringes stuck in my lower back all at the same time.

I REALLY wanted to be so cool, and brave, but I yelled and moaned and it was NOT my proudest moment. My nose ran. I felt like throwing up. I shook.

This was the last of the "tests", and eventually I will go on to have Radio Wave Ablation done, to kill the nerves in my lower back. Radio wave ablation is the SAME procedure, but instead of just injecting pain relievers as they did today, they will burn out the nerves in my lower back AFTER injecting pain relievers.

I got up from the table, and THEN the nurse tells me I could have had ADAVAN before the procedure.

I said, "Why the heck didn't anyone TELL me I could have had Adavan?" She said, "I don't know. I guess we just didn't think of it." 🙄🙄🙄

I wanted to say, "Holy Doo Doos, people! Are you really that clueless about causing pain and how NOT to cause pain?"

What is going on?

@JohnnyNoir Lower back pain. These "tests", two of them, have to be performed before they can go in and kill the nerves in my lower back.

@4meAndyou that sounds barbaric.

@JohnnyNoir The syringe needles go in until they touch the bone. They saved a nice x ray photo of my spine, with needles touching it.

@4meAndyou no other options I take it. Will it affect your mobility?
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir It will really help a LOT. IF it works.

@4meAndyou I don't see you framing it and hanging it on your wall
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou well I wish you the best with that. Any time line for the procedure?
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir Not yet. I don't have the follow-up for THIS procedure till November 4th, and if they determine that it really helped, they will schedule the Radio Wave Ablation.

@4meAndyou I'm afraid to look that up for fear it might be some Middle Ages technique
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir It's almost the exact same as the "test" I had today, with an added killing of live nerves component.

@4meAndyou I'm expecting leeches and other primitive devices here

@JohnnyNoir Modern medicine has advanced quite a bit, but there' s still the little problem of trying to affect things that are below the skin. At least they aren't ever going to cut me!

@4meAndyou some solace in that. I remember being put under during my second biopsy. I was thankful for that. And I was spared the experience of chemo so I feel lucky that my treatments were relatively easy

@4meAndyou Do they know the cause of the lower back pain?
4meAndyou · F
@Adrift Arthritis, for starters. The sciatica is caused by one leg being longer than the other, which in turn caused a tip of bone to "stick" at the top of my pelvis on the right side. I managed to do a VERY dramatic stretch one night, once I knew what the issue was, and I FELT that little bone pop free. Unfortunately, that caused major sciatica pain on the OTHER side. The only fix that the insurance will cover for THAT part of the problem is surgical.
