Have any of you found out you were allergic to something after years of not knowing?

About three years ago, I was talking with some friends at work, about how much I like mushrooms but they're too spicy. They looked at me like I was crazy! Turns out, I'm allergic to them. On a side note, my doctor told me that in a lot of cases, heartburn can be an allergic reaction to certain foods. For example, peanuts give me heartburn.

I don't know what I am allergic to but something makes me sneezing like crazy. So far it only happened twice. I don't remember having any allergies as a kid though.

@CrazyMusicLover Out of curiosity, do you tend to sneeze after eating or drinking? I know a couple people, my mom included, that have sneezing fit while or just after eating. It is some type of medical condition that some people have, nothing to do with allergies.

@WizardofOz No, once it happened when a dog laid his head on my knees and another time was when I entered one office. However, the second time was after I ran in about -3 °C so that might have been the cause. If I run in cold weather, my throat gets extremely tingly and the more I cough the worse it gets. I hadn't had this problem as a kid either.
Also, I never had any problem around any other dog, not even the same dog another time when it was close to me, so it's unlikely dog's fur that triggered the reaction.

@CrazyMusicLover Were similar. I never had a problem around cats but now they suddenly bother me.

@CrazyMusicLover It could be molds, if not pollen. Especially if you notice it indoor and gets better outdoors

@Elessar I honestly think that dog rolled in something and had it on its fur. Could be also pollen because I noticed that sometimes I suddenly feel as if I had water in nose when I walk through the woods. But it's odd because I was tested for various things in 2017 or 2018 and all was negative.

@CrazyMusicLover Dogs carry a lot of stuff in the fur, it's not necessarily the fur itself but it could indeed be mites, dust, pollen, etc

and all was negative
Lucky you, last time I got tested they've given me a 70+ substances panel and I was positive to like 65 of them 🥴
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Elessar I reacted to some but it disappeared within the time limit. I especially had a strong reaction to whatever they put in with a needle and they were almost sure I was allergic but it also backed off.

@CrazyMusicLover As far as I know one of those drops is pure histamine: it *should* react on everyone, if it doesn't it means the entire test is invalid because the area isn't sensitive. So if it's only one it should be fine/normal
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Elessar I just checked out my papers and found out I have no report from that exam. 😑 Uh, I wanted to check out what was that separate regular needle thing. Don't you know what it could have been by any chance?
Anyway, what I gathered from that test is that even if the reaction will fade away within those 15-20 minutes, it still might come suddenly and strongly for a while.

@CrazyMusicLover Probably the histamine thing! If I recall correctly they kept it separate from the proper allergens also here; my last test like that was years ago.. The recent 70+ substances panel was a blood test (essentially they search IgE antibodies against allergens, without measuring the reaction because my reaction test gave unreliable results iirc)
