Do you sometimes have to rearrange or cancel plans due to pain?

I have TMJ, (Temporalmandibular joint.... essentially jaw pain due to night clenching) and today the pain really started sttong :( It even began in my sleep actually, it was so painful it woke me up and I felt I couldn't fully breathe. I could take a muscle relaxer, but it has already made me tired, (the pain. )

I had plans to go to lunch today and a little shopping, and now I need to do it tomorrow instead. Im just too tired. It really takes away my energy. The pain has subsided from an ice pack a little, but it's not completely gone. I just get frustrated b/c a lot of my life has been altering things or plans because of this pain. Do you ever experience this?

Yes I experienced this a lot of times before and I still do. Some days my body demands rest, demands to stay in bed.
It's part of living with chronic illness. There's nothing I can do but forgive myself for it and tell myself that it's not my fault. Otherwise it'll make me feel miserable. Self compassion is very important. You too be easy on yourself, you're doing the best you can 🫂♥

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether Thanks I truly appreciate that 🌹 And you are doing a really great job everyday my friend. :) They say the human body is very strong and resilient but we do have times we are fragile in many ways too. I guess we have to pivot with what is set for the day and know we are giving it our best. Ty again🫂
@Baybreeze I been reading a book about it. Our thoughts can be the source of our misery.

Yes my jaw got broken years ago and the night grinding aggravates it . My seizure issues frequently prevent me from doing stuff have plan ways to avoid triggering them .

@kodiac I'm sorry you have jaw issues too. It really drains me. I finally asked for a medication few years ago..it does help. It is Flexeril and I only take it if it's 10/10 pain.

I had some plans one weekend to run errands, then I woke up and puked. I cancelled those plans and stayed in all day.

More often than not.

Only from lifting. Sometimes I need to take a couple days if I get sore.

Are there any pain medications that could be of assistance?
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Sapio I'm going To take a Flexeril..thank goodness it helps. But the pain started so early that it's now zapped my energy. At least I'll be able to walk later after I take one.

I have no life. I gave up. My life largely revolves around doing things to keep the pain to a minimum. It's not something many people understand, so they just assumed I was ditching them.

Idc anymore. Gotta take care of ourselves.

@EldritchFox My fibro dx came at 31, then came the other garbage.

I sadly , relate when you say, you have no life, and people may assume, incorrectly, that we are ditching them, just for funsies. or whatever.

I wish they could walk a week in my shoes, or even a day! Let's see how they look, the look in their eyes, the feeling in their marrow!! Yes, definitely give it a week, because different pain in different places for different reasons.

@Wildstrawberries yeah I just gave up on people. They don't get it. They don't try to understand or find things for manageable for me, so I've gotten very happy alone. I do gentle walks on the beach and quiet things that feel good.

It's all good. Just not part of the world anymore.

@EldritchFox Nature is the best for healing and my Fur Babies.

I would give a lot to have water nearby, it's like nothing else, magic. We have a tiny stream in a park far away or a little pond where ppl come but, there is zero solitude really, unless you are actually alone, which is too rare. But, still it IS something and I must be grateful.

The fresh forest air can help us to try and stay healthy since we are exposed to mycotoxins and this is taking our life.
