Old photos were normally taken without anyone smiling, for various reasons. One of them being that it was thought of as improper.
But smiling is beautiful. So I've put together a few vintage pics of people looking happy:
You deserve to smile. Everyone who smiles is gorgeous.
I used to think it was hypberbole or rhetoric when people said things like this. As I grow older I realize otherwise. There are places in this world where it's hard and rare to smile. That beautiful facial expression is a commodity.
And there are many people here and elsewhere who could benefit from this realization. Today, we mostly just use images to show material things or naked people. Take a look at the SW image feed for example. Men constantly posting pics of naked women.
Women, men, children, everyone: you deserve to smile. You are more than your naked body parts. You are everything you've done in your life, up to this point, followed by what you will decide to do in the future. Take the time to set aside yourself and love others. Smile for the right reasons and make others smile, too. If you do these things, you're doing great. ❤🩹
This post was written while I hear someone over the phone quite literally passing away. I hope it's easy to read and understand as I don't have much time to organize or edit.
What do I end it on... Less nudity, less cars, try to make someone smile. Some of you really, really need it.
Oh yeah in the Soviet Union people also didn't smile in pictures, I laughed the first time I saw my husband's parents wedding photos, because looking at it, it felt like they were all at a funeral. 😭
@SinlessOnslaught Aww thank you. Unlike in Denmark, it would be weird to smile at a stranger, they would think there's some sort of joke they're not getting lol. You can of course smile to people you know, but in Ukraine people usually only smile naturally. I have a habit of just smiling whenever I look at a person, and that's seen as weird here. They would be wondering why you're smiling at them lol.
