Smoke from Canada wildfires has reached New Jersey

The haze and the smell are very prominent. I live about ten miles from the Statue of Liberty. Here's a photo someone took today (not mine)

Yep, we were choking on it last night. It's a bit better today.

@AbbeyRhode You need a good heavy rain to clean that out of the air

@AbbeyRhode I didn't even notice....

@AbbeyRhode It wasn’t too bad here yesterday, but it is today. They sent us home from work early today due to the poor air quality.

@sciguy18 I didn't go out yesterday, but I noticed the sun turned red in early afternoon, which it never does, and then I could smell the smoke, and my eyes were burning. It got pretty bad again this afternoon.

@AbbeyRhode Geez, I didn't take it that seriously at first.

@originnone I wouldn't have thought it would be that bad, all the way from Canada. But I heard that the area burned is bigger than the state of New Jersey already. It's a really huge fire.

@AbbeyRhode you know just about every place I’ve wanted to visit but never have has been lit on fire and destroyed or shredded in a tornado or hurricane. I thought Gatlinburg area would be a great vacation destination and it burnt. I would have loved to visited Joplin and a strong tornado devastated it. And I’ve always liked the idea of going to Canada’s wilderness but now it’s burnt, a lot of it anyway.
