I took these pictures of the moon through a Nikon coolpix at full zoom through the eyepiece of high power binoculars

The binoculars were tripod mounted but the camera was hand held.. I took more than 30 shots but only ended up with about a dozen clear enough to keep.. the blue one is a contrast filter

The zoom alone produced a picture about a tenth of what you see here. The binoculars have 80mm objective lenses and was set at about 40X.. they really made a difference.. focusing was tricky and the moon kept drifting out of frame
@Onestarlitnight amazing how such a static looking object as the moon, can drift out of frame

Next time throw a lasso around it

They make a mount for your cell phone to attach to a binocular or a spotting scope. But its difficult to get good still shots without a remote shutter release.
