It looks like a tree branch.

@Gusman I thought it ‘barked” like a squirrel when I read the post. Squirrels sound like yapping chihuahuas when they get upset about something.

@cherokeepatti This one had a bit of a Whistling Bark as the wind was Soughing all around

@Gusman we’ve had roaring winds lately. Today was fairly calm. Driving past a big trash dump in Oklahoma City today there was a mile of heavy letter both inside the dump and outside along the street and industrial businesses across the street and bags in trees and litter on chain-link fences.

Well it does look like a tree branch but you say from a distance you were not sure. That makes the lizards over there HUGE!

@curiosi Some are rather large.
I stumbled across this Monitor Lizard a while back
At least 3 feet long

@Gusman We are starting to see things similar to that around here. They are not native but rather sadly pets that someone didn't want any longer.

@curiosi That is really bad news. They will eat birds eggs and small critters. May decimate the local native animals
Oooh ....that's excellent !!!!

I found this once, walking by a creeks edge.
