Wait until you go mirrorless!! My old DSLR was fine, but if I wanted vibration reduction in low light, I needed to pay for it in each separate lens. With mirrorless, VR is built into the body (they call it In Body Image Stabilization) and it easily gives me 4 stops.

@ElwoodBlues how many milimeters on your lens?
ElwoodBlues · M
@Nimediapresentations On my ten year old DSLR I had a 35mm F/1.4 prime. My new mirrorless has a 24-70 F/2.8 zoom that's sharper than the old prime.

The advantage of the phone is is always there... But quality?... I'm with you

Good. The potential for out-of-your-control software editing is just too damned creepy- and obviously not present with a camera that's just a camera. If feasible, I'd suggest rising from the dead to protect it, when the time comes.
And yes, even I think it says a lot when you find yourself saying "I'd suggest rising from the dead".

What DSLR do you use? What is your favourite lens?
Nimediapresentations · 41-45, M
@mindless Nikon D3300. My favorite lens is my Nikkor 10-20 mm wide angle lens

@Nimediapresentations nice ... Do you post process?
Nimediapresentations · 41-45, M

My smart phone is nothing but a smart ass now

the problem with smartphone cameras is that manufacturers are too concerned with higher resolution/higher MP count and more cameras/lenses rather than better cmos sensors
thats why a 25 year old 10mp camera still takes better pictures that a modern 20-30+mp smart phone camera

@wildbill83 Megapixels in terms of clarity on an LCD screen do not really matter anymore unless you plan to print out 32 x 44 in. flyers. Nowadays, megapixels are only significant when it comes to prints.
Megapixels mean virtually nothing if you just plan to post on Similarworlds.

@Nimediapresentations bingo. for the size of a computer monitor, tv, photograph, etc. and the typical viewing distance; the eye can't really perceive any resolution beyond 1080-1440p
beyond that, filtering/image modification is needed to account for the poor color representation to negate pixel noise/graininess (which doesn't work that well tbh)
If a camera can't capture a picture in true color that appears exactly how you see something with your own eyes, there really is no point of higher and higher resolutions

After so many years and looking back it's hard to believe these tiny lenses have replaced the awesome clarity of the large glass light collectors.

The reflex is a lonely child, who's waiting by the park
The reflex is in charge of finding treasure in the dark
And watching over lucky clover, isn't that bizarre?
And every little thing the reflex does
Leaves you answered with a question mark
