samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@masterofyou what happened, is there a story behind it!
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 yes Tioga County is the poorest county in New York, but the taxes are very high people can't afford to go out and eat. People are voting with their feet and leaving New York...

The restaurant business is the lowest area in tghe stock market and it's at its bottom

You can blame on who has been running New York for the last 20 years and even as far back as 40 years....

I guess it mostly political and it's going to get worse before it gets better....

@masterofyou i didn't want to get into a political argument, but the issue is far more complicated than you make it. New York State citizens highly subsidize the citizens of other states by receiving lower taxes, etc., back from the feds. It costs a certain amount to provide basic needs, the lack of federal money leaves that more difficult in New York and other such states. That system started as a compromise during revolutionary days and provided for the establishment of a lot of the current situation in which larger states, population wise, get screwed.

@samueltyler2 it isn't an argument it a fact.. . It is what it is..... The little guy gets hurt the most 💔
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@masterofyou absolutely. Have you noticed the prices in the market, gas station? The politicians all say they will lower them, but they rise almost daily.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 the price of gasoline at the pump is the same here and maybe be higher than it was in 2013 when i was moving my daughter from Syracuse University grad school back here to Ithaca....
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Prices are steadily going up in grocery store... And im watching are economics like a hawk because im looking forward to a recession....
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@masterofyou i am trying to prepare my finances for that.

@masterofyou We have alot of abandoned places around here. I've just now started a thing on old/abandoned buildings
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@Tumbleweed It maybe fun to photograph but, devastating in so many ways I see it happening since 1962 factories have been shutting down sending all the jobs and industries to China... And it's dangerous a national security problem, and it can't be turned around fast enough....
Tumbleweed · F
@masterofyou I agree. And there is a limit to what I take photos of. Sometimes it just feels like I'm violating something sacred, I don't know, I can't really explain it.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@Tumbleweed No it's journalism and also an artform and history .. it's informative and you're really doing a good service.... I'm going to start a page separately from the one im on to add more pictures and text on what is happening..

@masterofyou Nice!! I feel like if I take photos of tombstones, as long as I keep the name hidden, it's not too bad to post those. It still makes me feel a bit wrong though. But I think these people deserve to be at least acknowledged in some way...
@masterofyou Yes, that's true but if in spirit of journalism, you should listen to reasons of -why. But I believe in documenting for the art of documenting how life changes.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@awildsheepschase if you read back i did mention that....
@masterofyou I don't see it without a political slant, while the images can just be their own without impressing what they mean. A good photography will imprint it's meaning anyway. Often it holds more meaning because the photographer learns to trust their audience and the audience learns to trust them - as like all things emotions/politics are subjective so if you want yourself heard present in ways in where it's seen for the audience to see so they can feel how they feel to the picture or art, as they see.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@awildsheepschase are you a photographer??
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@masterofyou instead of investing in manufacturing in the US we have given China the opportunity to lead. The reversal of support to green energy is an example. Rather than fighting back, we rolled over. Tariffs really only hurt the little guy, it will not produce any investment. People cry socialism whenever the thought of the government playing a role in development of industry is mentioned, nalthough the country now owns 10% of Intel. The closing down of basic and medical science grants will only lead to other countries investing producing a decline in the US dominance on science.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@samueltyler2 yup!!!! and we have to kiss their bottom and hope they don't shut us down and if they do we are in deep doo doo...
