What on EARTH?!

I remember seeing these leaves last summer like this too..only in mid July. Now it's only late June and these leaves are changing autumn colors?!?! I love autumn, but this is unbelievable!😮😱

Red maples will do that in distress. To shed any unhealthy leaves.

Could be drought or disease or needs nutrients. I love my maples and red maples, my burning bushes will let me know by color what they need too

@Bexsy You're right ...I forgot we had temps 105 last week, that could've been it. Typically it's around 90 in June here, not over 100.
It's an ill tree... sadly so many of them, I know how it also works as a sad symbol emotionally of autumn coming.
I have a Japanese Maple that's been doing the same thing! It started this color change about 3 weeks ago.

Stress can cause early leaf change. If it's too hot or too dry or both they start changing early

@MethDozer hmm maybe it was those 100 degrees temps for four days last week...true

@Coralmist that'll do it. They shed some to retain moisture
