It continues to amaze me, how many flowers emerge from this one bulb!

@akindheart when we lived in a house/condo, we would put them in the ground to recoup over the spring summer. They would come back the next year.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 my friend is a master gardener. she told me to never put those in the ground. They are rhyzomes and they spread fast!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@akindheart that never happened in my experience, and, if it did, would that be upsetting? You just have to remember to bring them inside at some time and let them go dormant for a while.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 they take over the yard. they spread bulbs under the surface so yes it is a problem. and you would be digging up tons. I don't plant them in the ground and i don't have to bring them in thankfully
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@akindheart actually, what i did was plant them in the pot they came on. That probably prevented the spread. I didn't know how they propagate, I did it fir convenience.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 i removed them from the plastic pot because there was this saw dust stuff and no drainage. If you put them in a bigger pot, they grow babies very fast. i have given them away. i bought mine in Walmart
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@akindheart i know St googled the propagation, nothing about rhizomes, but lots about bidding off baby bulbs. I got mine at Home Depot actually. I feel like a murderer because I have no place to grow it over the summer.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 oh no. the rhizomes were told to me by a master gardener.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@akindheart maybe so, but that isn't stated on any of the sites found on Google. I won't argue with them, because I have no first hand knowledge, but Google doesn't seem to discuss that at all.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 well if Amaryllis is a rhyzomes, that is what they do.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@akindheart aga n, that is not in my area of expertise, we know Google isnt always a creditable source.
