is it possible to transfer 'everything' from my windows 7 computer to a brand new windows 11 computer

ive been told today by the pc shop repair man when i asked could i get a dual boot upgrade with windows 7 and windows 10 - he said support for windows 10 ends next year and he said if i want windows 11 i would need a brand new computer, because i would need all new hardware?

so now i'm panicking because i have an awful lot of data/ media files/ bookmarks in chrome- on this windows 7 computer.....i'm not tech savvy....so im wondering somehow could everything on this windows 7 computer be put on to a new windows 11 computer??

as i would be devastated to lose any data from this windows 7 computer.

I am not current on what Microsoft has in terms of backup tools. However, seeing that you have a Windows 7 machine, your best bet is probably to do this manually.

Transferring your web browser bookmarks is very simple. All browsers offer an option to export your bookmarks to a file, and then re-import them.

Better yet, if you log into your account on the browser (google provides free space if you're using google), and activate "sync", all your bookmarks are permanently there, not matter what machine you're on, as long as your'e on Chrome, you're logged in and you're synchronizing.

Data: get yourself a USB external SSD drive and manually copy all your data to this drive (you should know where all your data is), and when you have the new machine, copy it back. You also now have a backup copy.

You should make a list of all the applications you use, and look up to see if they have some settings you need to be exporting and then re-importing.

Make sure you have a copy of your application keys (if you bought any), so you can re-install on the new machine.

This may sound complicated, but it's not.

@Northwest thanks for helping, i feel lost about this, as iam not that tech savy.

i have malwarebytes premium on this windows 7 computer, but i wouldn't know how to go about find application keys?

when you say applications, do you mean programs/software i have on my computer? i guess ill have to download them again on the new computer and reinstall them?

@durinsBane1983 I mean programs and software on your computer. malwarebytes premium should be a subscription, and you should be able to get that from your account.
