I want to get blinds, but they seem to short, about an inch into the width of the glass, but the next size is quite a few inches wider

Apparently you can only cut an inch off each end, and the sizes seem quite universal. And just to clarify, they are too small width wise.

Get custom made blinds via the internet. Follow their instructions how to measure, get samples and pay attention to the details about thickness, light filtering, how they open, etc. There are 4 or 5 popular custom blinds makers, a near infinite selection of colors and textures. They all send sample patches so you know what you will be buying. We made about a dozen such purchases from all the makers and picked through hundreds of sample patches to find the ideal colors and options. No regrets.

@Heartlander Hopefully not too expensive?

@curiouslady93 Very reasonable. The prices are related to the material, sixes and features. It’s been about 3 or 4 years since our last purchase likely less than $1200 for a dozen blinds. One is pretty large … 80 inches wide by 55 inches. a few are pretty tall. Some are both top down and bottom up. I would think th price would be the same as at a retail store.

A top down feature is great for letting sunlight in while gaining privacy. Un fortunately that adds to the $$.

If you mounted them inside the window casing it might work, measure the actual glass pane without the window frame to see if they'd cover the glass.

Some of it will depend on how you want to mount your blinds. Some are inside the window casing , those usually have a narrow space on both sides of the window .
Some blinds are mounted on the outside and can cover the whole window .

@curiouslady93 I don’t think that’s going to work without gaps on the sides. That would be an inch and a half on each side but I have one question , have you got the blind or are you going by the dimensions on the package or internet.
curiouslady93 · 31-35, F
@Repete Dimensions on the internet listing
Repete · 61-69, M
@curiouslady93 it will probably be a little smaller than that in actually . Better if you could actually see it .

You could get them custom made 🙂🐼🥢
curiouslady93 · 31-35, F
@Anniedlr That would cost a lot more?

They will cut them to order
Prolly buy the bigger one and mount them above your window frame instead of inside it .

@OogieBoogie Wont that look weird?
@curiouslady93 its the only solution to your probelm that i can think of,

Some choose to do it as it blocks out more light, than mounting inside.

The reasosn many mount inside the window, is coz they think ots the only way, or so they can mount secondary curtains outside the window frame.

Its up to you 🤷
@curiouslady93 better picture of difference
