I keep seeing stories about Microsoft

And how they're pushing notifications to upgrade to Windows 11.

I have a question: What if I don't have money to buy a new computer?

My current computer doesn't have TPM, and Windows 11 requires TPM.

Does that mean I would need to move to a different OS when support ends October 2025?

Support ending doesn't mean it won't work anymore. I still use xp on a few things at work

@SooperSarah can you still get out online?
@twiigss yep. Microsoft ending support just means they'll stop releasing updates for it

@SooperSarah so then what's this I hear like Internet doesn't work with xp? Is that true or just bull?
@twiigss the stuffs I use that's running xp is specialized and doesn't access the internet. In theory there's no reason an xp machine can't access the internet but there are several reasons it shouldn't.

@SooperSarah well my problem is if I'm using xp as my main os, I would want to be able to use the Internet.

But I would also be running Malwarebytes Premium for protection.
@twiigss the os itself will still be vulnerable. You'll also likely run into compatibility issues with software you want/need to use.

@SooperSarah that's true, newer software that's not made to work with xp won't work on xp.

But like I'm on 10 now, I don't have money to buy a whole new PC, so I can't upgrade to 11. I'm thinking about I'll just have to eventually switch to Linux, because if it's been 3 years, I'm still going to be using my PC I have now, so the same problem of getting on the Internet would exist wouldn't it?
@twiigss you'll be fine on 10 for a long time.

@SooperSarah I hope so
@twiigss how old is your pc? Microsoft has required anything that runs windows 10 sold since like mid 2016 to have tpm.

@SooperSarah I built it in 2015, and it's AM3+ socket
