Poor, poor students, how shall they ever cope without checking their social media every 15 seconds while the teacher's back is turned? :(

@NativePortlander1970 i'm sure some kids will test the waters and cheat, they'll be spending the entire year in detention 🤣
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 Why doesn't the teacher just take the phone away until the end of the day if she sees it out in class.
beermeplease · M
@Spoiledbrat i could answer that with multiple reasons but i'll let @NativePortlander1970 answer
Spoiledbrat · F
@beermeplease He might not have a reply.
beermeplease · M
@Spoiledbrat oh he will...trust me
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@beermeplease Just woke up, fell asleep, need to jumpstart my brain

NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat They usually do, my older step sister is a retired jr hs teacher, she always took their phones away and put them in a locked drawer in her desk.
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 That was my original reply. That's what I would do if I even saw a phone during class.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat Are you a teacher?
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 No but I wanted to be one.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat Just be glad You never did, my stepsister says that she had to retire because the Zoomer kids got so violent, in the middle of nowhere iowa, that they made the Millinneal kids seem tame, and that the Gen Alpha kids are even worse, that they'll try to rip your throat out if You even look at them crossways.
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 I never finished college but yeah.
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 But I was teacher's aide.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat So then You should at least know how students act. How long ago were You a T.A.?
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 A few years and my classes never had phone problems because my students respected their teachers.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat And too many students do not respect their teachers, which is a major reason why my older step sister left teaching and retired.
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 Then they can get suspended. I was never suspended even once.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat Most of us never got suspended, a weeks detention was usually the standard punishment.
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 I had a cell phone in college. It's no big deal. They can't stop you from carrying a phone. We pay for our education. But for tests instructors would walk around and make sure desks were clear. There are a lot of ways to cheat. And if one cheats they cheat themselves. But for big tests instructors made everyone clear their desks and would get a zero if caught cheating.
beermeplease · M
@Spoiledbrat but you're pretty much an adult then....growing minds needn't need phones in class in the elementary/high school level
Spoiledbrat · F
@beermeplease I don't think it's a big deal. Parents pay taxes that pay teachers. I'm sorry no phones on desk. That's be my rule. Maybe we should agree to disagree.
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@Spoiledbrat It's not about phones ON desks, it's about students looking at their phones UNDER their desks, looking down, NOT paying attention, trying to hide what they're doing from teachers.
beermeplease · M
@NativePortlander1970 @Spoiledbrat...what portland just said should sum it up
Spoiledbrat · F
@NativePortlander1970 Teachers see phones and take it. If they don't see it. So what. Can you stop ganging up on me now? Beerme, I wasn't talking to you.
