if we had cell phones back in the 70s and 80s for sure they would be. i see no reason why one would need to look at one while in a classroom. am i wrong?

They're allowed to bring them to school, but not use them during classes, and they have to be on do not disturb unless the kid is expecting a call it has to take in which case the teacher must be informed beforehand.

@BarbossasHusband I don't mind them taking them to school but not using them in the classroom.

@JimboSaturn I agree with the policy as it is here.

They were when I was in school but I still used it anyway. Public schools aren’t very accommodating to autistic people and I needed my music to help soothe me and concentrate.

It's absurd. Kids should be able to focus on the teacher and the lesson.
@JimboSaturn i think it's futile banning them as they wouldn't even listen anyway...same with the youngsters at work. i've had to fire a few of them for excessive use. they actually wouldn't work. when i'd let them go (prior to their probation period ending) they'd ask why they are being let go...i wouldn't answer them.for the ones that look at them from time to time i'm ok with it as it will never stop and trying to find workers is a struggle
