Microsoft scraps the new Windows 11 system tray after user criticism

The simplified Windows 11 system tray design was close to being launched, but Microsoft backed out at the last minute.

According to company spokesperson Brandon LeBlanc, the decision was made after negative user feedback, with only a few people showing actual interest in the simplified system tray design. As such, **Microsoft listened to its user base and ultimately scrapped the plans**

Yeah, okay. Microsoft doesn't give two shits about its user base, because if they did, we wouldn't have this disaster Windows 11 is.

At the last minute I'm just waiting for them to say, "oh wait a minute... no more TPM requirements!". I'm which case I will still give them the middle finger and move to Linux because the only thing they care about is stinking $$$$$$

I used Linux mint before, so I am a little familiar with it and did use the terminal as well.

For me it's the last straw with them. I'm just waiting for the day they make Windows subscription based. People would be very wise to move to Linux if they are able. I understand not everyone can make that switch, but if we do, I can only imagine the sheer panic at Microsoft.

My computer is 13 years old, and ran Windows 7 when I bought it. Then I finally upgraded to Windows 10 for free, and patched when prompted, yet with lots of failures, requiring me to undo the patch (at least they allowed that). Then eventually patches never finished, always failed.

I found an application that allowed me to see Windows update items and selectively block them. So I blocked Windows 10 updates. Yay!

When Windows 11 came out, I did not get any upgrade requests. I suspect my hardware is way too old.

I probably should upgrade my hardware though, due to it being 13 years old. I use Windows 11 at work and it is fine.

I have backed up personal files (except photos) in multiple places, like a thumb drive, my smart phone (only a few months old!), and the cloud (MS and Google). As for photos, my only backup is on my thumb drive. I do not yet want to pay MS or Google for more cloud storage space. They both offer 15 GB free.
