Why Linux?
My argument in favor of linux btw is very simple. It accounts for 1% of the global desktop market share sure, but with Desktops some are servers and frankly more relevant than all the other desktops for that reason.
Basically it's that if you administer a website and your Admins host it using Windows you should fire them because they're incompetent.
All most reliable and best servers in the world run on Linux. With Technology not every machne is equally important. So 99 percent of the Desktop market might run on windows, but 99 percent of the desktop market is less relevant than the 1% that runs on linux.
The operating system punches majorly above it's weight, has much better uptimes than windows is capable of and can usually be updated and brought to the latest version without suffering a reboot. With Windows even if your system doesn't crash in order to update it you almost always have to reboot. I would NEVER host a web site on a Windows server. EVER. PERIOD. Basically even if you love windows you should still learn linux because HOLY SHIT some of the most important computers in the world run on it! All the Finannical infrastructure, all that shit that is important? YEAH that has to beam finanical data across the web?
